Self Portrait
Ink on Canvas
18" x 15"
2017
This is a self portrait I did over the summer. I was really interested in experimenting with different materials to create a realistic drawing that has a little bit of a twist. I was heavily inspired by the aesthetics of 18th century makeup with splashes of pink on a colorless base skin color. I created an air of mystery by positioning myself at a 3/4s perspective like I had something to hide and would never fully face the viewer. The background also fades slowly to an enigmatic darkness to suggest unknown fathoms.
