The Lunch Line
The school lunch line is always a pandemonium. A minute before the bell rings, everyone is packing up, knocking into each other. This always sends teachers in a raging rampage of, “This class is not over yet! Sit down!”. When the bell rings, people run out the door, knocking down chairs, and slamming the door open. The politest say, “Sorry!”, and, “Goodbye”, before running out the door themselves. Teachers walk out of their classrooms to scream at the top of their lungs, “Walk!”, “Come back here right now!”, and “Come back here and WALK!”. A few seconds after the bell has rung, the line has filled with at least least sixty panting, out of breath kids. A second too late and you’ll be at the end of the line. Kids frown, yell and pout as their classmates cut into the line. Teachers walked past blindly not saying a word of the cutting, but snapping at you if you were just a toe into the passageway. When you finally get into the cafeteria, you either let out a sigh of relief or annoyance as you grab your lunch.
