Name Essay
My name comes from a long list of ancestors. My name came from my great grandfather's name. Then it became my grandpa's name. Which turned into mine. I see my name as maroon. Maroon has depth. It has a dark color, but also has a smoothness to it. Spencer is a rock at the bottom of the ocean. It’s smooth but rough. Has been in the world for ages, and understands the ways of time. My first name came from Britain itself, and in the English language my has the meaning; “administrator.”
The name Spencer sounds as if a snake is hissing as it wraps itself up onto your legs. However the name Spencer isn’t sinister. It’s more like smooth butter being spread over crispy toast. The butter melts into a smooth milky cream which slides over the warm toast. The knife spreading the butter makes a crisp sound against the warm bread. My name has depth but is also simple.
In school and at home, I am better known as Spence. Close friends and family call me this. This name is spoken by people who have gained my trust, friendship, and respect. The name Spencer is more formal. The nickname Spence is casual. One is a fliet mingion steak while the other is a simple angus burger with no extra toppings. My name can be powerful yet calm. Just like the waves that crash onto the beach from the ocean’s surf. Untamed but tamed just like the ocean. Most importantly it’s a name that can be spoken when someone is in need.
My name has made me who I am. Who I want to be. Who I will be. My name is Bill Belicheck. It is as if my name calls to people like a becon of light from the ocean’s dark trenches. From being the freshman boys soccer captain to just being there for my friends. My family and friends have described me as leader, caregiver, friend, and family member. No other name could give me what the name Spencer has. This name is a beacon of trust. A light for those who are lost. Most importantly it is how friends and family recognize me as a human being. My name a 23; simple but big. My name is a warm sutle sunset on a warm summers day. But most importantly my name is me. From birth to present I have been Spencer.
