August 2022 Fiction Contest: Sun Forever
My most favourite thing? The sunset. Always has been my favourite and always will. Maybe it’s because of the impending doom I know is about to settle on Earth. Just for some time. But its there. And it's disturbingly comforting. One day, it didn’t happen. I was walking on the beach, squinting to see the sun set but it didn’t. The sky was a hideously pale yellow colour, and it didn’t disappear. It stayed. I loitered around, hoping it would sink, like it always did. 11:00 pm. 01:00 am. And finally, 09:00 am. The time the sun lived.
The loss of night. exactly 101 words. I present to you, FLASH FICTION.
