Dead mans tale

Looking at her reduced to ash, I couldn't help but grieve. But there was no time to cry, I had to fulfill her wish. She wanted her ashes to be spread on the highest peak of all the nine realms. On the journey many human-like creatures made of magma and molten rock known as Draugr impeded my journey. Without her magic protecting the woods, the Draugr have been roaming closer and closer to our home. Moving swiftly, because of the off chance that any gods could snuff me out, I ran into an eerie, abandoned mine at the base of the mountain, where the mighty Valkyrie, Olrun, stood.

“What is your business here?”

She said in an unexpectedly room-filling voice.

“I must spread my late-wife's ashes at the top of the highest peak in all the realms.”

She chuckled and said,

“The highest peak is in Jöutenheim.”

The only way to get to Jöutenheim from Midgard is by the gate on the top of this peak. But to open the gate, you need a sacrifice. I bid the Valkyrie farewell and continued up the mountain. Continuing swiftly, I noticed that this abandoned mine had multiple cranes that likely led to the top of the mountain; many of which were stuck under boulders or broken. There was one crane attached to a ferrite chunk, which was unobstructed. I unlocked the crane from the mechanism and the chunk started rising. Barely jumping onto the crane, I slowly ascended to a place unknown to mortals.

*THUD*

The chunk I was standing on got jammed onto a ledge. Luckily, there was a cave a couple meters up; all I had to do was climb. It was petrifying ;the steep plummet meant certain death if I slipped up. I grabbed two protrusions from the surface of this cliffside, took one step and almost immediately slipped. This time, I focused on the friction between my fingertips and the small protrusions in the surface of the granite; trying to not let any pebbles break off. I rolled into the cave, which led to a path along the outside of the mountain up near the top. The feel of the cold, dry air and a light breeze coated the outside of my body. The crunch of the snow beneath my feet along with the rough surface just below was enough to stop me dead in my tracks to rest. I went back into the cave and lied down on the cold, rough surface.

The time came for me to climb up the side of the mountain. I had already gotten used to the climbing, so I very easily climbed this section of the mountain. Finally, me and Lyssandra made it to the top where the view of the Lake of Nine and the statue of Thor was very prominent. To my surprise and luck, the keeper of the dead, Hræsvelgr, was bound to a tree (presumably from a spell).

I had a mission to complete, so I killed him. Now that I’ve sacrificed someone, the gate was opened to Jötunheim. As I was crossing the bridge to the other peak, I slipped and fell all the way down.
