I've Returned
My hot breath presses against the microphone. I can feel stares burning through my clothes. I'm bare... naked. They're laughing.
No.
I step back into the scene. They're mellow... waiting. I whisper the first words of my song... they ring back into the hall, louder than ever. Cheers. Smiles. At me!?
I hear the drums beating to my melody. Bass guitar. Saxophone. Each in cadence, putting the melodies of my life back into place. My voice flows smoothly from my open mouth, my lyrics breezing out. It's been years, but... I've returned.
