The world was spinning. Kyle couldn’t see clearly. His legs trembled and his arms were badly bruised. How did he get here? Where would he go? As he fell to the ground, Kyle felt a familiar sensation. He was on the beach outside his house. What had happened to him?

When he finally got off of the ground, he noticed that his foot had a huge hole in it. His hands had gashes in them. His arms had holes all over them. Every step he took hurt. There was something wrong with this picture. He couldn’t remember anything. He needed to find out. He knew that something was wrong, and he was determined to find out. He trudged over to the patio where he could hear a noise coming from inside. It was business as usual. He walked into the kitchen and his mother saw him bloodied and bruised and let out a shriek of terror.

“I thought you were in bed,” she said, almost crying. “Who did this to you?” she asked in horror.

“I don’t know, Mom,” Kyle replied with a very hoarse voice. The last thing he remembered was dinner before promptly falling asleep. “Was anyone in the house between last night and this morning?” he inquired.

“Not a soul,” she responded confidently.

“Then how did I get outside?” Kyle asked with dizziness. He was injured very badly.

“We’re going to go to the hospital.” She declared. She held him up and helped him into the car and sped over as fast as the law let her. Kyle was promptly taken into the Intensive Care Unit. When they finally stabilized his condition, he noticed a man in a black coat and a fedora. There was a mystery in the air. Kyle felt the anesthesia rushing through his body. There was a cold feeling, and then nothing. His mind floated around in a pool of fluid. Every nerve in his body tingled with serenity. The next thing he knew, the anesthesia had worn off, and the pain from his wounds returned. He passed out.

When he awoke, Kyle found himself in his room untouched, as if nothing had happened. He stumbled blindly down the dark stairway to find his mother safe and sound in the kitchen.

“You’re finally up!” she said with a smile. Kyle had no idea what was happening, he had been broken only hours ago.

“How long was I out, Mom?” He asked.

“About four days,” she replied without taking the grin off of her face. Kyle couldn’t help but feel worried. He noticed something different about is life. Everything had a, perfect feeling to it. An aura of falsity lurked in his world. He looked outside to the beach and knew. He had passed on.
