The Last Man On the Earth
All I could here was loud gun shots around me and all I could see was people running for their lives. I ran into the nearest building and slammed the door and locked it tight. I waited, not noticing that behind there was a big screnn TV. I went to turn it on to watch the news and maybe get a perspective on what was happening outside. The reporter had come on the TV saying that is seemed to be a virus outbreak of some sort. It all made sense to me. Thats why the people were falling dead on the ground in the streets. My body quivered and I was covered in goosebumps. I knew the only safe place for me was in the vacant apartment. That night I made myself food with whatever was in the house and slept on the couch next to the TV.
When I woke up in the morning, I had this feeling that I could do anything. A sense of power. I walked from the couch in the living room to the bathroom to wash my face. Grabbing at the sink handle to turn the water on I suddenly ripped out the whole entrie sink from the wall. I was flabergasted. I then quickly ran into the kitchen to open the fridge door. I slightly opened the door and it had fallen off its hinges. Appauled at the fact that I had just dismantled a refridgerator and the entire bathrrom sink with my bare hands, I knew something was up. Maybe I had survived the virus outbreak for a reason. Could it be possible that I was given this power for a reason?
Another night passed in the apartment. I didnt know what to do. All I could think about was outbreak and seeing those people die right infront of me. I must have survived this thing for some reason. How could I have gotten these powers and why me? My mind was everywhere. After eating my breakfast I then moved back towards the living room to turn on the TV and see what was happening on the outside. The damn thing won't turn on! I quickly grabbed the phone to see if there was a dial tone but there was absolutely nothing to be heard. The power to the whole apartment had been shut off. It was clear to me that I had to go outside to see for myself. I scavenged the appartment for any type of resources I could pack into this little backpack I discovered in the closet. Heading down the staircase to the exit, I knotice that my knees are buckling uncontrollably. I had no idea what to expect when I walked out that door. It could have been a zombie apocolypse or a alien invasion. So many things were running through my head. The thought that I very well might get killed by a deformed rottweiler came up, but I had to just clear my mind and open that door to face my destiny.
When I opened the door to the city street, I saw nothing. Not one single human being. There were absolutely no cars anywhere. It was just me and the empty streets. This was very strange considering the fact that I had seen people fall dead everywhere in the streets not more than two days ago when the outbreak occurred. The first thing that popped into my head was that I should go home. I walked 5 miles and didnt see a single thing. Once I had arrived, the first thing I did was go right to my bed. Am I the only person left on the earth? Why was I given these special powers. It was too much to handle all at once. Throwing myself into my bed, I closed my eyes. Freeing myself of any worrying thoughts.
Slowly starting to wake up, I let out a big yawn and rubbed my eyes. The phone suddenly starts to ring. "Hello," I answered. "Johnny its me, mom." "Mom? Where are you?" I asked. She responded, "I'm here sitting at home with your father. I just called to tell you that dinner will be ready at 6." Mumbleing into the phone I said, "Mom, how did you guys survive the outbreak?" She quickly responded, "Outbreak? What outbreak? Are you going to be here for dinner or not?" I then said, "I gotta go mom, I'll see you for dinner later." Right as I hung up the phone, my freind Darius walks through the door screaming, " SO HOW YOU FEELING MY MAN? THAT'S SOME GOOD S*** HUH?" I rapidly responded, "Darius what the hell are you doing here? How did you survive the virus?" "Virus?" he said, "What virus?" "The virus that killed everyone on this planet thats what virus!" I responded. He then said, "Oh it was the s*** I gave you. It's some strong ass stuff man. I think I might have given you too much." The story is when Darius and I were hanging out at my house a couple of days ago, he had slipped a very potent hallucinogenic drug that sent me into a three day-long trip. It turns out I was lying in my bed for three days tripping out thinking that I was the only man left on the Earth with super-human powers. Man, that was one hell of a high.
