Track
I stepped onto the track getting ready for my 300 hurdle race, the aroma of the hot rubber making me nauseous. I could see the fans in the grandstand talking and cheering but I couldn’t hear them. I was focused. My heart was racing and my stomach was flipping upside down and inside out. I started jumping up and down trying to keep myself calm. Looking around it was slightly comforting for me to see that everyone else was just as nervous as me. The man with the starting gun motioned us forward to the blocks. Then the silence was broken. On your marks! I felt the cool breeze softly blowing on my back. Get set! My heart started racing even faster. BANG!
