Tend Your Garden MAG
I have come to tend your garden, I know just what to do
I must cultivate the life you left behind as you passed through
I will keep it fresh and healthy and protect it from the weeds
I will separate the sorrow from the soil and plant your seeds
I will shelter it from insects, from thunder and from storms
Always newly watered, I will keep it safe and warm.
I have come to tend your garden, I will feed it every day
With words I should have spoken but never tried to say
I will shape a wide bright future from roots deep in the past
In hopes that what I know from you will be enough to make it last
I will guide the older blossoms upwards to the light
And at the end of every day, I will wish them all good night.
The flowers fill the vacant space
Where, in my hands, I held your face
Beneath my feet, where I had cried
The damp earth whispers how you died.
And in the morning 'neath the mist
The flowers bend toward your kiss
Shortly after they will rise
Toward the sky, toward your eyes.
I have come to tend your garden, forever I'll maintain
The growth of magic memories that spring from joy and pain
Warmed by recollection and watered by my tears
I gather fallen petals and hold on to those lost years
I will guide the growth of flowers, set in rows around the mark
Where your shadow traveled onward in its journey from the dark
Your spirit and your kindness I have promised I will save
As I sit and tend your garden and I weep beside your grave.
