One Choice, Two Ways
I jolted awake from my sleep, presperation coating my forehead, I was breathing hard, as if I'd just ran a race. It wasn't a nightmare that had woken me up, it was the scream that I heard. Shifting, I dragged my legs to the edge of the bed, my eyes locked on the shape of my door. I strained to hear something, but all I heard was the hum of my fan, and my breathing. My eyes strained to see any movement, barely any light filtered through my room, I didn't like light peeking into my room when I tried to sleep, so blankets nailed over the windows blocked out much of the light. My heart thumped against my rib cage, but I was terrified to move. The scream hadn't been an animal, it had been human. And not the casual happy scream, but more of the I'm-about-to-die-please-help, type of scream. Standing up, I'd c*** my head to the side, looking at my digital clock on my nightstand, it read 2:00 AM. I snorted, I was going to drag my feet in the morning for school. Clearing my sore throat, that's what I get for having the fan blowing on me during Fall. Slowly and quietly shuffling my feet to my door, I creaked it open slowly, looking down my hallway, I started to walk, and thats when I heard it again. The scream was load, but what was scary was that is didn't sound human, but I knew it was, it sounded... possessed almost. I couldn't help but smile at my imagination, spent too much time playing Minecraft and Skyrim. What was scary was that the sound wasn't just a scream, it ended off at a clicks and growls, but it was a human I'm sure of it... but that's what bothered me the most. Why would a human make sounds like that? I shufffled into the hallway, staring at the open doors to the bathroom and laundry rooms, I swallowed, finally getting to the end of the hall, I look to my right and to my left, I was in the dining room now. I heard another round of clicks, almost like the sound of a door on rusty hinges opening. C***ing my head, I realized the noise was coming to the front door, I turned the corner and froze, the door was wide open... and that's when I knew that I wasn't alone.

I've always liked to right about zombies, many people these days don't have kids my age in many zombie movies, without counting The Walking Dead, which I love. I hope to see many more zombie stories around, but they're hard to find, especially with a teenager as the main character.
