not perfect
She was an anime character in looks as well as emotion, with hair brighter than candy that would never fall flat over her scalp and brown eyes perpetually widened with something not quite identifiable. Even the angles of her face were over the top, curving sharply into an angry mouth and the suggestion of a nose. Her skin was coated with smooth white powder which rendered her doll-like and artificial, shrouding the pores that may once have been there with flawless falsity. Long ago, she’d had dark splotches of freckles adorning her cheeks, but the powder had muted and eventually eradicated them entirely. The tiniest sliver of brown sprung out of the roots of her vibrant hair, a fact that she tried to make into fiction by coating her scalp in burning bleach and dye whenever possible. But the stubborn bit of normalcy remained, a giant billboard declaring I’m Not Perfect! And that, she hated more than anything.
