The last thing I remember before waking up on a bed of clouds was free falling. Suddenly, I had a pair of arms, legs, and hands. My hair was wet but fell down my back in oceanus waves. It was white, whiter than any cloud or any snow I had ever seen. I stood up and looked around me. I saw a woman sitting by herself, humming a soft tune and braiding her hair. Slowly, I began to walk towards her. My brain knew I could walk, but the sensation was so new that I gasped when I felt the clouds under my bare feet. The woman looked up at me when I had gasped, and she smiled gently.

“Rain!” She exclaimed. I looked behind me, wondering who she was talking to. When I looked at her again, she nodded and motioned for me to come forward.

“Rain!” She shouted again. I quickened my pace until I finally stood above her and stared down at her sitting form. Her eyes were a sparkling gold, and her hair flowed in a beautiful orange hue. I opened my mouth to speak, but I had never spoken before. Noticing my hesitation, she reached out and grabbed my hand with both of hers. When she let go, I felt an object in my palm, and I saw that it was a crystal in the shape of a raindrop. It glittered blue when each cutting edge of the crystal caught the light of the sun’s rays.

“Wh-wh…” I struggled to form words and clenched the crystal in my hand tightly in frustration. I was confused. Actually, confusion didn’t even begin to describe what I was feeling at the moment.

“Rain,” she repeated softer this time. I furrowed my brows and stared at the beautiful woman blankly. All of a sudden, my feet started sinking into the clouds, and I started to panic. What is this? I tried to grab onto something to keep me from falling, but my hand just grasped air.

“Rain, go! Go!” She said enthusiastically. The woman immediately stood up and jumped, and I screamed knowing that her jumping would make me fall faster. I was already waist deep in the clouds when the woman suddenly disappeared. It was like she was never there in the first place. The clouds became heavier and heavier, and then I was free falling once again.

It felt like the falling would never end. My wet hair was being wildly tossed by the wind. I saw hundreds of water droplets in front of me, and I could see my reflection in each one. My eyes were as blue as the crystal I was still desperately holding onto. My skin was as pale as ivory.

In my head, I could hear a soft voice saying ‘rain’ over and over again. I closed my eyes and tried to remember as much as I could. And like a story unfolding behind my eyes, I saw a clear blue sky. The sun was shining brighter than any other day, and the clouds slowly moved to meet each other. And then, I saw myself. I was falling alongside thousands of other raindrops, but I had no body. I didn’t have the silk white hair that I did now. I had no crystal blue eyes or moving limbs. I snapped my eyes open and took a huge gulp of air. It felt so good to breathe, and I laughed. I had never heard laughter before, much less my own. I was almost there.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that beautiful orange hair. When I looked over, she didn't look the same as she did when I first met her. No, she was just in the sky, shining and glowing. Her warm rays hit my skin, and I felt safe and secure. I no longer felt confused.

Before I hit the ground, I closed my eyes, held the raindrop-shaped crystal to my chest, and whispered, “Rain.”
