Buying Rollerblades
Scanning my eyes across the crowd, beads of sweat drip down my back thanks to the blazing summer sun. My sweet friend Abby is on her way for our evening run through our neighborhood park. I know our route like the back of my hand. When I run, all my worries flush down the drain and I feel as though I am flying in my favorite dream. Once I spot her smiling face, I notice she is talking animatedly to the old man sitting on the park bench. I quickly wonder to myself what on earth is she talking about and make my way towards them. The old man passionately moves his hands while he exclaims “They are only $12.99! The best deal you can get!” I advert my gaze down to what sits beside him, rollerblades. “Oh no no no,” I find myself saying as I am putting two and two together. “This is a bad idea, I just know it!” I try to convince my best friend who is smiling ear to ear back at the perky old man. “Oh come on Olivia! Live a little!” Abby expresses eagerly as she swiftly hands the man a twenty and cradles the rollerblades in her arms. “Well I guess I could try?” I skeptically say as I thank the old man and go on our way. That leads us here, strapped in with great anticipation of what's about to happen.
