The mic is the need of the world, like blood is for humans. But as much as I wish we as people can say that as a true fact, it isn’t really a fact. This is just a stupid belief that we people again, think is a true fact. And those people you may ask? Me and Tanya who sit near the cafe. The kid that plays the piano near the cafe taps and taps his foot on the vinyl floor as the music plays aloud inside the cafe. The melodies are calm and collected, not like the streets buzzing with energy, which doesn’t make sense since most of the time it’s always chill and silent. Maybe today it’s different.

“I think you look way better with those Jordans, why did you not wear them today?” Tanya looks up at me and tilts her head.

“I really don’t want to show off, Ginger gonna look at me like I’m some maniac,” I say.

“Why do you care about Ginger so much? She’s not that important.”

I glide my hand through my hair softly. “Ginger knows better than me style-wise. I don’t want to make her mad. Besides, who wants to show off so much that they don’t even look like themselves?”

“I would risk it someday, Kennedy.” Tanya says. “But we need to get on the stage, the reason we came here is so you can speak your words.”

“Ok.” I run to the back of the stage and look at the black haired girl near me. “Hey Ken, your next.”

I take out my poem filled with words and endless work. And that’s when I started to speak and that’s when I stood out.
