Dec 12, 2023, that date marks the day of the craziest event in Lomira's history. It all started with a simple plan to walk to McDonald's to get some food and ended with sirens and the most gut-wrenching feeling Chase Lund had ever felt. 

“God I'm starving,” Layton uttered 

“We should go hit up some Dons Alex you tryna come?” Aidan asks 

“Of course what kinda question is that?” Chase and the boys begin to walk to McDonald's and are silent the whole way there. The other guys order their food and Chase is the last one to order. He orders his food and heads to the table to eat and talk to his boys. They all sit around and talk but Chase isn't listening.

“God this McChicken is hitting different right now,” Layton announces. 

“Oh god, anyway yesterday I was at the simulator in West Bend and some dude hit the ball and missed so bad it hit something metal I think, and smacked some old lady in the face and she had to go to the hospital,” Aidan says. 

“Was the guy sober?” Alex asks. 

“No, He passed out drunk like 30 seconds after it happened, everybody had to leave cause the ambulance came but at least we got a refund.” 

“Was the lady ok?”

“I don't know, I didn't hear anything else about it.”

“Dang that sucks for her.” 

There is a slight pause in the conversation before Layton asks “What are we doing after this boys?” 

“Idk Chase, can we go to your house to golf?’ Alex asks.

Chase doesn't respond because he is still zoned out.

“What?” he questions.

Alex repeats, “Can we go to your house to golf after this.” 

“Sure I don't care” he responds 

Alex responded with “Should we leave right now.” 

They all agree and start the walk to Chase's house but Layton is falling behind and something is wrong with him Chase thinks but doesn't do anything about it and keeps walking. Once they get to Chase's house he sets up the simulator and starts to golf. For a while It's quiet and everyone is locking in trying to smack drives. Chase keeps thinking something is up with the guys today everyone is so quiet and seems angry he feels like there is some kinda tension between everyone but again does nothing about it. 

            “God I'm so bad at this,” Layton whines.

“Probably because it looks like you've never touched a golf club in your life,” Alex jokes.

“Probably because I never have Alex,” Layton exclaims.

“Here lemme show you how to swing properly,” Chase says.

Chase gets up and gives Layton a 5-minute lecture on how to swing a golf club before sitting back down. 

“God I might be Tiger Woods after that yap sesh,” Layton jokes 

“Alright buddy just hit the ball and do what I taught you”

Layton takes a big swing and watches as the ball soars. 

“Dang that went like 250” Layton spouted. 

“See what happens when you listen to the pro,” Chase says

They all laugh and continue to golf until Chase tells everyone he will be right back and to just keep golfing and not do anything stupid. He walks and goes into his house to grab something to eat when his mom comes up to him and says, “Are your friends in the garage right now.” 

“Yeah” he responds wondering why she’s asking him this 

“I thought I told you I don't want those guys coming over anymore I can just sense that they are trouble,” 

“Mom come on now, there my friends I'm gonna have them come over if I want too

“Excuse me.” she snarled 

“I'm not just gonna stop hanging out with people because you think badly about them, I think they're cool so imma have them over.”

“Alright ill let you guys be this time but so help me god if anything bad happens and I hear about it your butt is grass, and never talk to me that way again, or ill kick your behind to the moon and back.”

“Yes master,” Chase says as he grabs a bag of pretzels and walks back to the garage.

As he is walking back into the garage he can hear some commotion going on so he bolts to the garage worried that something bad is happening just like his mom had just been talking about. As he walks in he sees Aidan and Layton sitting by the outlet fighting over a phone charger. 

“Give it back lil bro,” Aidan appealed.

“Nah I need it more,” Layton argued. 

“Aint nobody gives a crap I had it first,” 

Alright ladies can we stop being babies and figure this out like real men,” Chase adds.

“And how should we do that?” Layton asks.

“Chase you got boxing gloves?” Alex asks.

“That's a great idea,” Aidan says.

Chase runs out of the room without saying anything and leaves the others questioning where he is going. He soars through his house and rams into his room to dig through his closet knowing where he knows there are gloves. After a good 20 seconds of searching, he finds them and smiles. He then rushes back out of the house before his mom stops him. 

“What are you doing with those?” she asks.

“I'm throwing them away because the dog ripped it up,” he lies.

“How’d Carly get into your closet?”

“I must have left it open on accident,”

“This is why I always tell you to keep it shut,”

“Yeah that's on me,” he says and then bolts back out of the house and into the garage to find his friends sitting down looking confused. He raises the gloves and they all start to get excited for what is about to go down. He hands each person a pair of gloves and tells them to go to their corner to prepare for the fight. 

“Alright Ill be Layton’s coach, Alex you Aidans,” he says 

“Ok” Alex agrees 

“Alright Layton imma need you to lock in here alright he may have the experience but you got the size on him,” Alex 

“Dang right all those big Macs be coming in clutch now,”

“Alright guys let's get this going,” Chase says.

Both the boys get ready to fight but there's that feeling again he sees it in Layton's eyes he looks like he wants to kill. All the sudden his smile turns serious and he watches as the fight is about to begin  

“3…2…1” Fight. Chase watches as the two guys charge at each other and start throwing hands Aidan throws the first punch and misses then Layton counters and throws a right hook that puts Aidan straight to the floor. Chase jumps up and laughs but that laugh slowly fades again because he expected Layton to stop but he doesn't he keeps going rapidly beating on Aidan with no remorse Chase yells at Layton to stop but he doesn't he keeps going. Chase knows he has to do something but he can't move. Then he watches as Alex jumps in on it and tries to get Layton off Aidan but fails and Layton pins Alex to the ground and starts beating on him. Chase finally decides to do something about it and jumps to get Layton off everybody he looks at Aidan, he isn't moving and Alex isn't either he tackles Layton to the floor and tries to fight but Layton still has the drive in him Layton pins Chase and tries to ground and pound but chases dodges it. He throws Layton off himself, grabs a golf club and wacks him in the face multiple times before he is eventually knocked out as well. Chase immediately calls 911 and runs to go get his mom. “Mom you were right everything went wrong. Layton might be dead and Alex and Layton are very fudged up too.” He explains the whole story to his mom and she comforts him while they wait for the cops to come. He watches as his mom talks to the cops and explains the whole story to them. He watches as Alex and Aidan get dragged into an ambulance and he starts to cry but he is in such shock he can't speak. The cops try to talk to him but he won't talk; he just sits and stares and watches it all go down until he hears the sirens driving off in the distance. He stands there for a solid 2 minutes after they drive away. Then he tries to walk away. His mind is spinning in circles and he is walking like he is drunk. He makes it about 3 steps then passes out cold. 8 hours later he wakes up in a hospital right next to Alex and Aidan. He looks at them and all of a sudden they both start to flatline “Help, Help” he screams but no one comes he starts to have a heart attack and doesn't know what to do. he then hears his mom say “Chase Chase stay with me I can't lose you know.” He fights and fights but all of a sudden the world starts to fade the memories fly by and he can't think anymore his eyes shut and his mind goes blank. “Beeepppppppppppp.”
