What A Life!

Friday nights were the one night of every week that I looked forward to no matter what. But who would blame me? Having a boyfriend is what every girl my age wants. Most teenage girls haven’t kept a relationship for as long as I have. My boyfriend, Chad, and I are two way different people. He’s extremely athletic. His detailed muscles make him look so bulky that he is referred to as a “teddy bear”. He’s a very clean young man. His American Eagle and Aeropostale clothes make it seem as if he’s got a little bit more money. He has beautiful green eyes that sparkle when he smiles with his perfect white teeth. His curly brown hair bounces of his head when he walks. And then there is me, this non-athletic undersized girl that wears sweatpants every day to be comfy. My clothes aren’t expensive; instead they’re from JC Penny’s or Wal-Mart, or even Target. I have hazels eyes with short brown hair. Chad is extremely outgoing and catches everyone’s eye, while I am really shy without catching everyone’s eyes. But these differences don’t keep us from being extremely close. We’re like best friends. We share this closeness with each other every Friday night, which is date night. We go out to eat or to a movie. But we do this every Friday night because that’s about the only day of the week that we can be alone.

This Friday is going to be more extraordinary though, because it is our two and a half year anniversary. Because we live in Des Moines, Iowa, there are too many restaurants to choose from. I want to go to a nicer restaurant then we normally go to. Chad wants me to be surprised so I won’t know until that night what I’m doing with him.

Our two and a half year anniversary was incredible. Chad didn’t take me out to eat; instead he made me my favorite soft, yellow, hair-like noodles with delicious round meatballs covered with extra pasty tomato sauce with tomato chunks. After we ate, he took me to The Cheesecake Factory, where he bought me a very rich piece of yellow covered cheesecake topped with juicy red strawberries and strawberry syrup. He asked me what I wanted to do afterwards, so I decided on getting a movie and watching it at home.
After our date, we continued to get greater. We became so much closer. Everything was going great. We saw each other a bunch more, and got a lot more time alone. Our parents began to trust us more, which helped us a lot.

A few days ago, I began to notice something was wrong with my body. I didn’t know what, but I knew I needed to get it checked out. I got out of school one day early to go to the doctor. They did a mass of different tests. The doctor came back to tell me that I was pregnant. WHAT?! How could this happen to me? So many questions were running through my head. Will I be able to go to college? Will Chad stick with me through this? Will I be able to afford this baby? I’m having so many mixed feelings. I didn’t know whether to scream or cry. All I knew was I needed to talk to Chad. And I needed to talk to him right then. So I texted him and told him I needed to talk to him. Chad had practice after school, but apparently he knew that what I had to talk to him about was important, because he was at my house right after school got out. We talked about it for about an hour. His reaction wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. He panicked a little, but was calm and said it would be okay. He told me he was going to give up sports, so he can get a job and help support our child. This made me feel kind of relieved, because I didn’t know if he would stick with me through this whole thing. We both decided we would need to get jobs. Another thing we decided on was telling our parents. But we also thought that it would be better to wait until we both got jobs, so that we could prove that we are going to do our best to support this baby, because we don’t want to have to give this baby of ours to a different family.

A month has flown by. We both have gotten decent paying jobs. We told both of our parents that we wanted to have dinner with them all. I’m getting nervous. I don’t know how my parents or Chad’s parents will react. I think his parents will handle the situation better than mine. The dinner is tonight at six, but Chad and I are cooking for them, so he is coming over earlier to help me cook.

The Dinner was tonight. Everyone sat down at the table and automatically knew something was going on. We didn’t want to tell them right away, so we had normal conversation for the most part. Finally, Chad says, “Okay, you all know that there was a reason we wanted to have this dinner. Mom and Dad, you’re probably curious as to why I quit track and have a job, and Mr. and Mrs. Williams, you’re probably wondering the same thing.”
I stepped in, and together we explained to them what was going on. We couldn’t really tell what their reactions were. We figured we would get more of a reaction when we were both alone with our parents. They all just kind of stared at us with shocked faces without saying a word.

We definitely found out their reactions. It has been a couple months now. Chad’s parents kicked him out, so my parents were nice enough to let him move in with us. They are still kind of unsure how to react to the whole situation. I’m sure they are accepting it though, because they were okay with Chad moving in. They told us that they wanted to sit down with both of us tonight and discuss everything.

My parents talked to us last night about everything. They are surprisingly being extremely understandable. They are going to help us through everything. My mom is actually starting to get excited. My belly is growing constantly. I’m beginning to notice some nasty stretch marks, so I’m going to start putting lotion on that is supposed to help take stretch marks away and keep them from developing. Chad always comes up and rubs my soft round stomach, and sometimes notices a little kick from the baby. He puts his soft face against my stomach and makes little sounds and talks to the baby. I have realized that we will stick with me through this, and he is going to be a great father. We find out the sex of our baby tomorrow, I hope it’s a girl!

IT’S A GIRL!!! Chad and I are so excited. I can already tell that this little girl is going to be wrapped around his little finger. My mom has already bought so much girl stuff. Chad’s parents are also finally starting to be understanding. They started talking to us, apologized, and told us that they wanted to help us out.

I am really getting close to my due date, so it could happen any minute. I’ve been having some contractions, but not bad enough to go into labor. We have a nursery for the baby set up and Chad’s family has helped us out a lot. My mom and Chad’s mom are throwing a baby shower for me tomorrow. I’m getting so nervous!!

Little Maisee Lee was born this morning. She came out at seven pounds three ounces. She was born at Eight Seventeen in the morning. She is the most beautiful little girl in the world. She’s already spoiled by everyone. She’s very healthy and loved.

Everything is going great. Chad and I have both stayed in school. Maisee is a handful, but so much fun. Our parents are all happy with us, which relieves a lot of stress. WE are all enjoying life a new bundle of joy in the family. It is hard. We have our bad days and we have our good days. I’m not saying I regret it, but I don’t recommend having a baby in high school. But, on the plus side, Chad, Maisee, and I are a very happy family!
