Our Fights
“Jared, listen… you’ve got a long life to live, what’re you doing ruining yourself like this?”
“I can run around like the stupid, punk-ass teenager I am.”
“Uh, no, you can’t. It’s destroys character.”
“What? No it doesn’t.”
“Jared.” Sigh. “As your sister, I’m supposed to bug you about stuff.”
“Yeah. You’re doing a fantastic job.”
“All I’m saying is that it’s what I was born for!”
“Shut up.”
“No.”
“Look at you, all high and mighty.
You don’t know a thing of the world, do you, Nicole?”
“I’m fifteen.”
“Yeah, and I’m nineteen.”
“That doesn’t give you right to do what you’re doing.”
“Yeah, it does. I’m an adult,
aren't I?”
“A stupid one.”
“I can drive.”
“I have a permit.”
“That doesn’t mean you’re the best driver, Nicole.”
“I’m better than you are, Jared.”
“Why are we fighting?”
“Because you’re being stupid and throwing your life away!”
“It’s a video game, Nicole.”
“Your point?”
“You’re just jealous because you suck at them.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure. I’m probably better than you are.”
“Calm down, Nicole. People are staring.”
“Let them stare. I’m good looking.”
“I can’t live like this….”
“Then move out, dummy.”
“I can’t.”
“Yeah you can. It’s called college.”
“Who goes to college, any who?”
“People who want to get out of their parent’s homes.”
“Stop being sassy.”
“It’s my middle name, Jared. Nicole Sassy MacArthur.”
“No, your middle name is Tyler.”
“Says my parents.”
“And me.”
“You don’t have a say in what my middle name is. Since when do you pay attention to bull like that?”
“Watch your language, missy.”
“You’re not my brother anymore, remember? You’re an ‘adult.’”
“I’m your brother, too.”
“My brother doesn’t throw his life away.”
“It’s a video game, Nicole!”
“I’m never going shopping with you again.”
“Don’t come next time.”
“Fine. I won’t.”
“Good.”
