Life of Spy
Imagine having to kill your best friend, keep a secret life from your lover, all while trying to stay out of sight. These are the day to day actions of a spy, and they’re anything but glamorous. Not to mention you’re always being slowed down by pesky pedestrians. Life is definitely not peaches and cream for spies.
First off, it’s a dangerous life. At any moment and time, you could get killed, or worse captured, where you would surely be sentenced to a life of endless torture. To prevent these fatalities, you must endure intensive training; waking up at the crack of dawn, learning to read and write multiple languages, and taking someone’s life without emotion are key components. You’ll be expected to shoot someone at point blank range, clobber people to death with your bare hands, and hit them repeatedly until they’ve stopped breathing. It’s a dirty world out there, and you’re the cleaner.
Because spies assonate sometimes well-known or political figures, they must unexpectedly be ready to disappear off the face off the earth at a moment’s notice. In addition to being in hiding so frequently, a spy can sometimes be flooded with feelings of loneliness. They are highly discouraged to have any contact with family members or society on a whole. Although, they have been known to occasionally snatch up a romantic partner or two. Basically by choosing to be a spy, you’re committing yourself to a life of solitude.
The worst part of being a spy however is you don’t get to control what you do. You could be ordered to kidnap your sister’s husband and have no say whether it’s the right or wrong thing to do. Your opinion is lost, never heard by your superiors and you have to do what they say because you work for your country and they have supreme power. All they want you to do is tuck your head between your legs, fire your gun at people, and waddle away.
The once you’ve grown old and decripited, you’re thrown out like yesterday’s leftovers. Your financial strings are cut, your protection revoked and for the rest of your years, you’re given no benefits. You’ve been slobbered on by the Rottweiler named government and there is nothing you can do to get the 90 pound beast to close its mouth and leave you alone.
So the next time you think spelunking around the world and hiding in secrecy for half of your short life sounds like a fun time; think again. For the life of a spy may be mesmerizing at first, but it’s a dog eat dog world out there, and in the end, you’re merely just puppy chow.
