Medic
Medic
It time to fight is what all the billboards said. It was 1940 and I want to make my Country proud.
I was a doctor at the time. Very well at that everyone want to be Dr. James smith patient. Being a doctor is. Not honoring as it is talk up to be. I figure that with my skill being a doctor I could be a great use in the war
When I get to the recruiting officer he said so you want to be on the front line I replied no I wish to be a medic. Why would want to be a medic he said well I'm a doctor I answer oh is that so he said and hand me my paper with his approval on it
When I got to my training base in Britain. They didn't tech much because me already a doctor. The most important thing they show me was how to keep my calm with bomb bursting or head and it was needed.
Today I begin my duty of patching up wounded soldier. Let just say that no one could prepare you for what it was like out there. There was died soldier every some with no legs due to mortal explosion and other who just one fatally shout to kill them. I was a doctor and I still had the feeling of throwing up. I reach my squad and went on to the battle
I would have to say that I was lucky and getting a squad that never really got injured so running out of supplies was never on my mind. Until the day of the attack. We meet up a with four other squads to take a German bunker and That one is the day I saw the must amount of death. Left and right men were fall and I had ad them one guy got lucky with one shot to his upper leg barley able to walk but not died. We were able to take over the base but there was few survivors left there was 10 out of 50 infantry was left with 4 of 10 guys with LMGs (light machine guns).and one other medic that I came very well friends. His name was Ron Allen he too was a doctor. I guess that’s why we got a long so well.
Ron was look at one of the infantry. The guy had just been in close combat fight with a German and took a 6inch gash in his left side. Ron and I had to check to see if there was anything in his side without anything to dull the pain. I was holding down the soldier wile Ron was checking to see if there anything in his wound for he doesn't get an infection. There was blood going every when Ron was trying to see if the infantry had an infection or not. That me a doctor could barely hold my lunch down.
It's been three weeks without any sight of enemies’ forces. Everyone was get bored and it is very hard to keep a squadron entertained while sitting in ruins all day. Mostly we sit around telling stories of what it was like back home, and that what we were doing today until a tank came smashing through the war of the building we were in, I was lucky enough to get out a live but somehow I didn't get a scratch. But not everyone was as lucky as me three men died during this instant.
We were attacking another German bunker when we got surrounded and had to give up or die, they took us back to their camp and hocked us up to chains and told us to give them the location of other troops or we would die. They started with the highest rank officer and with down the line from there. Killing them one by one, like they weren’t even people. I was next when they got orders that made them leave the camp. While the Germans were gone some friendlies arrived to save who was left standing. A total of four men were saved all badly wounded including me. On the way to the way to camp two men died due to injuries, I didn’t know if even I would make it all the way there, as soon as we got to camp the other solider and I were given emergency care, the other solider recover in no time at all but I can’t say the same for me my injuries were so bad that they had to remove one of my arms. Looking back on this if I was asked would I have joined the military knowing that this would have happen and I would have to yes, being a part of something that is great than you is some that you choose it is something that you earn and for me fighting for my country was something greater the me
