CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING TRIP FAKE OUT

“All aboard all aboard all aboard,” is what I sang every time I saw my dad. He reluctantly gave in and planned an epic fishing trip for us. The next day I could barely sleep at all from the anticipation of going on my great ocean adventure. I slept in my regular day clothes all night so I wouldn’t waste time putting on clothes. When my dad tiptoed over to my bed like Santa placing the gifts under the tree and quietly tapped me on the shoulder, I immediately jumped out of bed like a frightened gazelle that had seen a tiger. My dad quieted me as not to wake the slumbering members of the family.
I was on fire as I dreamt of catching a boatload of fish while we walked along the shore to meet the boat. I felt like the luckiest kid on earth to spend a day out to sea fishing with my dad, which according to the mug I got him, is the best dad on earth. “All aboard”, the cry startled me and brought me back to earth. The boat was in front of us and we both raced down the beach to climb aboard. Alongside my dad, we soaked in the view, the soothing sound of waves softly crashing along the shore, the smell of salt and boats honking their horns. Also it smelled fishy which is good because we were going fishing. Any fisherman knows you have to stop for bait; and we got the biggest most juicy bait on the open sea. The bait and fish sat temptingly in the little tank sloshing around in slime. I just had to go stick my hand in and try and catch one. My dad finally let me catch one but thought humorously that I was going to do something fishy. I thought it would be a piece of cake for a little fish to swim into my hand and, but it was a lot of work to catch a fish that is as small and slippery as a snake covered in oil. I looked up for a second and saw how beautiful the skyline was and how the way the sun hides behind the water and the red merging yellow. My dad suddenly noticed a boat next to us that had just caught a really big fish. At first I didn’t know what kind of fish it, was but then my dad saw the colors and before he could tell me what it was, I saw that the line running like a dog attracted to a fresh piece of meat. My dad handed me the rod and I yanked on that rod as hard as I could like my life depended on it. Then I reeled the line in as quickly as I could. Suddenly I saw a glimpse of a bluish-greenish-yellowish thing thrashing in the water. I didn’t know what kind of fish it was at first but then it hit me when I reeled it in. It was a mahi mahi. I knew this because it was my mom’s favorite fish in the world. I was so happy to know that I had caught a fish that the whole family likes. I couldn’t believe it I had finally caught my first keeper fish. I took a picture of it on my phone and the photo was a good looking photo as the fish. I was so proud of my fist picture of a keeper fish that I caught. Suddenly the boat made a weird sound and I became worried as the motor stopped quickly. I realized that we were out of gas and I started to panic because my dad told me we had to row back to shore. That is when I really freaked out, but when the captain started to laugh and my dad joined in, and I knew something was up. He pulled out an extra tank of gas. I told my dad it wasn’t funny. I had really started to think we were going to be stranded out in the ocean. After awhile I was still stewing a little at my dad for pulling that prank, but I got over it when we started to catch more fish. I realized that no matter what had happened that day and no matter how mad I was, this was truly some fun quality time with my dad.
