$100 Dollar Story
$100 Dollar Story
He handed him a $100 dollar bill. That ‘him’ was me. When he handed me the 100 dollars I was so thankful that I was speechless. The only thing that I could manage to get out of my mouth was a quiet and a quite pathetic, “Thank you.” The man then trotted away giving others 100 dollar bills to get them also in the holiday spirit. What a generous man, I thought to myself. At the time, my brother and my mom were with me. They started commenting on things like, “You’re so lucky!” or “I wish I got one hundred dollars!” We continued strolling down the street until we met up with our car. We then hopped into my car. My mom started the car and we were off. After a couple of minutes of silence, my mom questioned me by saying, “What are you going to spend all of that money on?” I replied with a forceful I don’t know. There are many things that I could spend it on; a video game, college savings, a new toy, presents for others, ANYTHING! I then glance at my brother, Nicky, about to ask him about what I should spend it on, until I see sorrow in his eyes. I then realize that he feels terrible that I only got a $100 dollar bill and he didn't. But that is when I know what I am going to spend it on. I announce, “Mom, I know what I’m going to spend it on.” she then asks, “What?” I then respond, “I’m going to spend it on Nicky for his Diabetes.” The car goes silent for about 30 seconds. My mom’s sight is frozen on me and my brother turns around and also his eyes are fixed on me. He then gives me a hug and says to me, “I love you.”
