Mangled and Twisted
Twisted and Mangled
John Walker began to ease back into the soft leather of his ‘95 Audi, as he watched the approaching lights of a transport locomotive on its crash coarse. The train whistled loudly trying to warn John of where his car was placed. But, it was too late; the car was completely dead, stuck perfectly in the middle of the train tracks, about to be macerated down in to small pieces of shratmettal and person. John didn’t try to get out of his car, he was in complete shock of what was happening, and besides what point was there for John to live? He was stuck in a dead end job with coworkers that he often considered to be the absolute vein of existence. His ex-wife, physiologically tortures him with the better life that her new husband gives her. John, was a miserable human being that was just waiting for any excuse to end this dreaded existence. He placed both of his hands together and waited for his sad flickering flame to extinguish. The train grew ever closer and finally made contact with the small car, John was immediately thrown towards the side of his door, cracking his skull open and breaking his arm, on the now twisted and distorted metal. The sheer force of the impact launched the car seven feet into the air and sent it into an uncontrolled barrel roll. John who still conscious was treated like a rag doll inside his small car. As his car came to a stop and all the dust settled his mangled car lay upside in the ditch next to the train tracks, John grabbed at his head which was now throbbing with immense pain. He crawled from the wreckage and passed out from the fact the he was still alive.
John awoke laying down in a man’s truck, who was talking loudly over the radio to a cellphone with the paramedics. The man gets out of the car, and walks John to the emergency room door, where he mumbles a few words to john, which he doesn’t understand, pats him on the shoulder and drives off.
The nurse that helped john patched up his head and casted his arm and he left the hospital the next day. John felt rejuvenated and was ready to try to better his life, because some supernatural force decided to keep him alive, and give him a second chance. And john was ready to seize it. With the large amount of confidence the first thing John does is walk to his work with a brick and a letter attached to it. He hurls the brick through the glass and walks off with a huge grin on his face. The new John was ready to tackle this life with a different approach.
John reunites himself with a high school crush, and is able to completely forget about his terrible ex-wife that haunted his mind. John goes back to school, and studies religion. His new outlook on life became solely built on the fact that something had saved him that night, and he was going to try and repay. John marries his new found love, and they have 2 children together which he spends the next few years with loving life, and finally being able to appreciate it for what it is.
A nurse walked into the small one windowed hospital room, where a man was resting she checked the machine next to his bed, that was keeping him alive, and dusted off the table where a get well card was placed. The nurse wandered about the room for a few moments before hearing faint mumbles movements from the zombie like corpse. John began coming back to reality.
The nurse began screaming for the doctor. The doctor rushes into the room to the man’s bedside, with a flashlight checking Johns vital signs.
“Sir, do you feel alright”? asked the doctor
“Where am I” replied John
“You’re in a hospital John you’ve been asleep for quite some time now, a coma actually” The doctor spoke slowly and very sympathetically because he knew how delicate the situation could be for Him.
He explained to John that he had almost died, and slipped into a coma and had been in it for three months. John stares blankly into the doctors face for a moment as his head un fogs and the doctors words start to make since. John doesn’t say a word, in response. His face grows blank and he lays back down in the bed, as the doctor continues to speak. His life had changed, everything was perfect, and it had all been a dream, John was finished.
A week goes by and John is released from the hospital. With his return to reality, John greats it with jumping to his death from a four story building. His body lay on the side walk mangled and disfigured like the twisted metal of his car.
