Smarter than the average bear
“The day was hot, warm, unlike the others and changed the aspect of how she felt under the sun. Living in such conditions makes you feel you are welcomed by the embrace of the warmth on your skin. A fluttering against your arm goes to show a butterfly has landed on it. With its crisp new wings it flaps them up and down drying them in the heat of the day. Blue and white and black splash color on the wings of the creature that rests upon her arm. She raises her arm to set the butterfly off, taking its first flight it flies into the breeze of the day. The sun sets on another spring day, she sighs as she realizes the sun is gone and has retreated to beneath the surface. The moon shows its face to welcome the night and waken the creatures that belong to it. She smiles as the moon says hello and realizes as one thing sets another comes upon the hour.”
“With that said I believe it is time for bed” Said Mama Bear. “But Mama, were not tired yet” Whined the cubs. “You’ll just have to count sheep then”, she replied and lift the room. Count sheep? They thought. ”I have never heard of such a ridiculous idea”, said the first cub. “We live in the city, there are no sheep”, said the second cub. “Nope, no sheep”, replied the third cub looking out the window. “Now how are we going to fall asleep?” asked the second cub. “Why don’t we count the city lights as they turn out?” asked the first cub. “Good idea” said the third cub. All three cubs kneeled down in front of the three paned window with no light expect the diming of the city before them. “One….two…..three…” the cubs counted together, before they could even reach 10 all three fell asleep at the brink of the window. Curled up next to each other under the night sky they dozed away.
The next morning Mama bear came in to wake her little cubs. She saw them still nestled by the window pane and said, “Why my heavens! What are my little cubs doing by the window?” By the exclaimed reaction from her the cubs jumped awake. “We fell asleep counting the lights Mama” Said the first cub. “I thought I told you to count sheep to fall asleep though” She said. “Oh but Mama there are no sheep in the city” The second cub exclaimed. A smirk came across Mama Bears face when she saw how smart her cubs were, “Why you’re absolutely right. What was I thinking” She said.
