A Bowl of Stale Bar Nuts
Todd tossed his personalized pair of dice across the table. They both landed on the side with three black dots spread across the top in a sideway fashion. He let out a sigh from the corner of his mouth and reached for his lukewarm bottle, taking another sip of his bitter beer. The rim of the shattered glass was cutting his mouth with every sip. Blood mixed with alcohol trickled down his chin, leaving stains under his bottom lip. He smelt of sweat and cologne mixed together, formulating a foul smell. He put down his drink and fetched the set of dice. He held them in the palm of his hands and shook them, hoping for another outcome. He closed his eyes and threw; he heard the faint thud and opened his eyes. The dice both showed three dots. He shook his head softly and took another swing. Sitting in the corner of the near-vacant bar, sat drunken Todd. He forced handfuls of bar nuts down his throat, nursing a broken heart. He leaned back in the worn, wooden seat which was forever carved with initials from college students long ago. He swept his finger over the deep "L" that was placed on the right leg of the chair. He found his way to the bartender in a stupor state and slurred, "What is life worth living if you're all alone?"
