I did Something About It
Denice couldn’t walk down the hall without being pushed or tortured. She would get bullied all the time because she was bysexual.she liked boy and girls.Denice was very quite and shy she wouldn’t bother anyone. she didn’t have any friends. people didn’t talk to her at all. She would always stand by her locker in break by her self, and people would come up to her and yell at her mean names .Names people shouldn’t be called at all. And they would call her those names for no reason just because they felt like it. My locker was across from hers. I would see this happen,This would happen on a daily basis. I wouldn’t say or do anything about it, i just watched it happen.
In lunch she would sit by her self in the table that was by the corner. She would bring her own lunch, Maybe cause she didn’t want to stand in line to get food because she would probably get bullied there too. But bringing her own lunch didn’t change anything.I would watch as Jessica, one of the seniors, would walk up to denice and get her lunch bag and she would throw it on the ground and step on it step on it hard, Hard enough to squish all her food. And while she would do it she would laugh and laugh the whole time as if it was a joke, other’s would do so as well laugh in her face as if she was nothing to them. Denice would stare at jessica while she was doing this with tears in her eyes. The only thing i could think while she was doing that is “ Why would someone do such a thing to someone she hasn’t even spoken too?”.
i had her for p.e, we had p.e for sixth period right after lunch. In the locker room it would get even worst. We had to change for p.e. But the girls didn’t want to change next to her because of her sexuality. They would yell “Gross get this thing out of here, i don’t want to change next to her”and they would also say “ i feel violated when i change next to her”. Denice would just stay still .She wouldn’t say anything to them it’s not like it would make a difference, So she would just look down at the ground with a sad look on her face. I would see this happen and i really wanted to do something about it to make it stop. But i couldn’t i was too much of a coward.
One day denice was in the bathroom and so was i. When suddenly jessica and three other seniors walked in. They looked at denice and they giggled. They took her phone away and they saw her lock screen picture. It was a picture of denice and her girlfriend kissing. They yelled “ Ewww what the hell is that” and they also mumbled “ This is disturbing “. Then they throw her phone to the ground and stepped on it until it cracked,They pick it up and throw it in the dirty toilet. Then they left laughing, Denice drop down in tears,She couldn’t take it anymore. I stared at her for a second, i felt sorry for all she had to go through. All the torture she had to go through every single day. and thought enough is enough this has to stop. I decide to offer her my hand, I helped her get up. I told her “ We have to talk to the principle and tell him what’s going on”. At first she didn’t want to, She didn’t see the point of it. But i convinced her we walked together to the office and talked to Mr.Garcia about it.He promised he would help us. The next day We saw as jessica and her friends got called in to the office to talk to Mr.Garcia.He talked to jessica and her friends. And that same day we bumped into jessica and her friends at the cafeteria and they didn’t say anything to denice they didn’t even bother to look at us. And that was a relief for denice. And for a while denice didn’t really get bullied, It didn’t stop completely but it was an improvement. And denice and i became really close friends ever since that day we would hang out during lunch and afterschool. we would tell eachother everything. and it’s all because i did something about it. And i felt so proud of myself because i helped her out without evening knowing her.
