Friends are the best to turn to when you're having a bad day. -Justin Bieber

So, there was this guy names Stanley who just came to our school and he didn’t have any friends. He never really did fit in because he didn’t wear the “right” clothes and was super nerdy. There were times when I did feel bad for him because he was always alone but I didn’t tell anyone because I was afraid what people would think or say about me. One day I was driving to school and my car broke down. I was freaking out because if I was going to be late to school one more day I was going to be suspended. All of the sudden, an old minivan pulled up behind me and Stanley got out. It was his parent’s car, gross. He offered to help and ended up fixing my car so that I could get to school on time. I thanked him with a hand shake and we went our separate ways.

I got to thinking about how I treated him and judged him because of the way people would react. I decided I would give him a chance in friendship. We became partners in biology class and we traded numbers and that night he texted me saying this.
It is okay to be alone, to not have to worry about anyone but yourself. It’s okay to do things on your own. Being alone doesn’t always mean that you are weak. It means that you are able to be who you want to be and do the things that you want to do, without worrying. The more friends you have, the more you get into drama. The fewer friends, the more time you have for yourself and the things you want to do. Strive to be yourself, not someone you don’t want to be.

Carpe Diem .

I enjoyed reading the narrator's progress throught the story. Starting out with self-doubt about a lonely kid, but changing her view on him when they talked on the phone. I liked the way you made the Stanley character a vulnerable, kind-hearted guy who stopped to help the narrator; even though she had not done a single thing to help him out before. Overall, the story was really good.

self confidence is born from indifference. if you dont care what others think of you, then you have the strength to be yourself, hence selfconfidence:P
