One Shot to Success
It was a sunny day and Rodrigo thought it was a beautiful day to go to school. Too bad he went to the worst high school in all of Townsburg City. Rodrigo was a good kid and all, but was easily influenced by what other people did and he just wanted to fit in with everyone else. But all the other kids were not so good. Only about half of the kids would show up to school, and the few that did, didn't really care much about it. They went to school mostly to associate with companions or talk about plans for the weekend.
This was a special week because they were planning on robbing, from a very wealthy house. Everyone in the class said they were in, except for one kid, Nigel, who said he did not want to participate. Even though his brother, Johnny, was pretty much the leader of the group, he still would not be part of it. For a whole week, when the teacher went on his daily twenty minute bathroom break, they would discuss the plan.
“So we’re gunna hit the big house on top of the hill. On Friday night we will all meet up outside the convenience store, two blocks away from the house.” Johnny said. “we’ll meet right after the sun goes down, you’re either there, or you’re a square, just like by brother over there.” Johnny had always picked on his younger brother, but Nigel could not take it for much longer so he had to stop them. Everyone knew they had to be there and knew exactly what to do. They had planned it for a week and were very prepared.
Friday night came along and they were all physically and mentally preparing themselves. Rodrigo thought he would increase his leg strength, so he went for a walk, at night, through the worst neighborhood in town. He thought nothing could go wrong, but he was mistaken. He had been out there for about five minutes when he witnessed a car being stolen. Shots were fired and people were hit, including Rodrigo. He laid there for about three minutes just staring at the sky not knowing what happened. The ambulance came and he was taken to the hospital and all he could think about was the guys.
As he laid there, he thought about how the heist would go without him. He thought to himself “This is gunna mess up everything. Do they think I am a coward and that I bailed on them.” He didn’t know what was going on and he didn't know that they were already there.
“The whole crew had made it to the house, without even realizing that Rodrigo was missing, and just carried on with their mission. It was so dark they could hardly see each other’s faces. The only light was the street light that flickered on and off due to how old it was. They crept up slowly to the house and located the easiest way to get in. They broke into the house through the door and as they did, about twenty police officers either tackled them to the ground or just grabbed them and put handcuffs. Standing behind all the cops was me, Nigel, the one kid who did not want to participate. I made sure they were all in handcuffs before walking out from behind a police guy and showing my brother it was I who foiled his plans.
“But how did you know we would be here” said one of the kids
“it was me” I said “ It was me who told them about your scandal. Every day while you guys discussed it out loud, I would be writing it down, knowing every single detail of your plan. So on the day of the robbery, I went to the police station and told them all about it so they would be ready for when it happened.” So when they finally did it, the police were ready for them.” Nigel said.
As Nigel told Rodrigo of what had happened he began to think about what it meant. Was it karma or was it fate, he didn't know. As a child he had learned that everything happens for a reason. He didn’t know what the reason was, but he didn’t care. But what he did know was that it will not end well for him next time. “Maybe I was meant to do something great and not live in a life of being bad and doing bad stuff.” Due to this, he decided to change his ways and to not get involved in anymore robberies or bad things again. So from then on he didn’t associate with naughty people and just focused on school. Which was easy, since it was just the two of them in the classroom learning school stuff. Both of them did well in school and they graduated. And they lived happily ever after.
