Bad Dream

Jason got on his brand new bike and started riding it to school. He lived in Boise, Idaho. He was surprised that his mom was actual letting him ride his bike to school for once. His mom had never trusted him enough to ride his bike to school because she thought he would get hit or something, but since Jason was now in 8th grade he must be old enough. Jason rode carefully down the road paying attention to every car that passed. The ride was very normal and soon he had traversed the 2 miles to school.

After school Jason could leave right after he got out instead of having to wait for the bus, it was awesome. While riding home he was not as cautious as before. When he wasn't looking a car pulled up beside him and kept at his pace. The window of the car rolled down and revealed a nice enough looking man. The guy was holding up some popsicles and said, "Hey kid, wanna buy one.'' Jason didn't see anything wrong with that considering that the man didn't look strange. Jason said, "Sure," and the car sped up and pulled over in front of him. Jason got of his bike and wheeled it up to the guy’s window. Just as Jason was about to hand him the fifty cents for the Popsicle the man opened the door and yanked Jason's arm through the door. Caught unaware Jason let his body follow. He was quickly thrown into the back seat where here was promptly hit on the head by a hard object.

Jason woke up in a dark room. Not dim, but dark as in nothing is visible. He was tied against a hard wooden chair with thick hemp rope. Jason was one of those kids that carried a knife with him everywhere, but the familiar weight was gone from his pocket. The man must have searched him while he was out. It wouldn’t have helped anyways because his hands were tied very uncomfortably behind him. Jason heard footsteps coming from somewhere and immediately acted like he was passed out. Through the crack in his eyelids Jason saw a door open maybe ten feet away. The opened door stabbed a knife of light into the darkness illuminating the wall. A man stepped into the room and shut the door. Jason could literally smell him from ten feet away. He flicked on the light revealing him and the whole room. It had yellowish walls and no carpet, just wood floors. It was completely empty except for a table and a chair which was identical to the one he was tied to. He walked over to the chair, turned it toward Jason and sat down. He waved a small plastic bottle beneath Jason's nose and he jolted to life. It smelled like rotten fruit that had been bathed in vinegar then sprinkled with salt. This must have been what he had smelled when the man had come in. The man threw the bottle toward the slightly ajar door but missed. The man then turned to Jason and said, “I hope you know why you are here.”Jason, of course had no idea why he had suddenly bean kidnapped, But he nodded his head anyways. “Yes,” said the man, “That's right, you're going to tell us what was in the package.” Jason had a flashback from a couple days ago. His father had received a package in the mail from the government. Jason hadn't really wondered what was in it, when your dad worked for the government you didn't know what he was doing a lot of the time. Jason didn't actually know what his dad actually did, he just knew it got him money. Was it possible that these men were some kind of terrorists, but Jason didn't get any more time to think because that was when the man slapped him across the face.

Jason woke in his bed. He almost gasped as he saw that he was in his own room. He thought that he would wake up in some sort of torture device about to crush his head. He jumped out of his bed and looked at the clock, it said six forty five. Since it was dark outside he assumed it was morning. He ran out of his room and ran and into his mom. She told him to start getting ready for school or he would miss the bus. Then he stopped and said, “Wait, I don't get to ride my bike.”
“Of course not,” she exclaimed, “Do you think I'm crazy.”
Jason didn't reply, he just sighed in relief.
