The Cute Crew
The Cute Crew
Chapter One
It was a breezy spring afternoon. I strolled down the park lane. I could hear the whirring of trucks, hammering of nails, and every other sound you could imagine construction sounding like. I came to a halt and looked up at the one big tree in my neighborhood. I hung my backpack on a low branch, and began climbing. When I reached a fair height, I looked at the ground. I drew in a sharp breath. There, right beneath my feet, was Brittany Holmes and the “cute crew”(Stephanie, Madison and Maria). I held my breath, but she knew I was there. The cute crew looked up at me. My shoulder length auburn hair floated in the wind. I began climbing even higher. As I reached my special place, I put a hand on the branch and before I could pull myself up, a pebble hit my shoe, and my flip flop went tumbling down. Then another rock hit my bare foot. A jagged edge cut my heel, as my grip slipped. I tumbled through the branches. I managed to grab a lower branch, but sadly it was too low. Brittany grabbed my ankle and pulled it hard. I landed flat on my back, a sharp rock piercing my calf.
“Look who it is, Brittany began, “It’s little miss monkey.”
“Little miss monkey,” the cute crew echoed, “Hahaha.”
“Did you lose your banana?” Brittany mocked in a babyish tone. “Boo hoo.”
“I’m not a monkey miss… miss… miss…,” I sighed, I couldn’t think of an insult. I stood up. “Goodbye!” I said defiantly. I stormed out of the park.
Chapter Two
The next day at school, I was confronted by the cute crew.
“Never talk to Brittany like that again, or else.” They said in perfect sync. They finished the act with a snap and a twirl. Two stormed off but one(Madison) stayed behind.
“I’ll meet you guys at lunch.” She called to the rest of the cute crew. “Hey Becca what’s up?” She asked me.
“Ummmmm… I’m doing fine. Okay, so bye.” I said worriedly. I slowly backed away, heading towards my locker. Madison followed.
“Wait!” She called. “ Where are you going!” She began to run after me. I finally came to a halt at my locker. Class was about to start. I could hear Madisons ragged breaths behind me. I got my math binder from my locker and hurried to class.
Chapter Three
The bell rang right as I slipped into my seat.
“Alright class,” the teacher began. “Today we will be learning the bell curve. First you…” He droned on and on. I felt a vibration on my hip. It was my phone in my coat pocket. I pulled it out. There was a text message. It read, “Hi Becca, what up????? M here. Please meet me behind the school at lunch. Also, whatever u do, DON’T tell Brittany. TTYL and sorry if u r in trouble for txting during class :). Please respond ASAP.”
“Fine.” I responded, “There better not be any funny business.” Just then the bell rang, and the teacher said, “Alright class. Tomorrow we will be having a graded assignment on the bell curve. I hope you were all paying attention.” He eyed me knowingly. “Class dismissed.”
“Great,” I said to myself. “Another F.”
I sat against the brick wall of the building, waiting for Madison. After what seemed like forever, she finally arrived.
“Hey,” she said.
“Hi,” I responded nervously.
“Okay,” Madison began, “I have a confession to make. I really hate being a bully, but I’m terrified of Brittany. I feel really bad about what we did to you.” Madison looked down at my bandaged calf and heel. “You’re okay right? I feel just horrible!” She collapsed in sobs.
“I’m fine,” I lied. Now I felt horrible. After finally collecting herself, Madison said, “Please help me.” in a shy, whimpering, desperate voice.
“Okay,” I responded, “I’ll help you.”
Chapter 4
I lounged on my bed, as Madison sat awkwardly on a bean bag chair. Today our plan would begin. We would walk up to Brittany and tell her to stop bullying us. We were both nervous.
We approached Brittany in the lunch room. Madison and I walked up to the “cool table.” Brittany turned around in her seat and looked at us like she was confused. Then she locked eyes with Madison. They filled with rage. Brittany stood up, her stiletto heels making her much taller than us.
“I see,” she began, her voice pure rage. “If you’re ganging up with the loser, get away from me!” Brittany gave Madison a hard shove that made her bang into a nearby table. I summoned my bravest voice and yelled, ‘We’re tired if your constant bullying. Just get off our backs!” As I stormed off, a stray sweater caught in my flats, and I landed flat on the floor. Brittany put her foot on my back and stomped on me. I felt the heel of her shoe bruise my back. I lay there for a moment then pushed myself to my feet. I saw Madison regaining her balance and and an awe stuck cafeteria. Also, I found Brittany being escorted to the office by the lunch monitor. A perfect ending.
Chapter 5
It was a few days later, and it was perfectly normal. Madison and I were now best friends, Brittany was suspended for a week, and there was no bullies anymore. Now that the principal knows about all the bullies, there is a strict no bullying policy. We were also legends in the school for standing up to Brittany. Everything was perfect.
