Letting Go
On a beach in sunny Florida, she is sitting on a laid-back chair and eating a delicious strawberry popsicle. At the sight of a sea-gull she jumps up and runs to the shore where the waves take their last chance at existing before a new wave comes and takes over. She plays with the sand, making the grandest and most wonderful castles before they come crashing down from the waters canon-ball impact. As concentrated as a brain surgeon she feels like staying there for the rest of her life, designing and building those fabulous castles. The operation id paused when she is distracted by a group of dolphins swimming and jumping through the water. She stares in amazement and it hits her, she could join them! Running towards them, she feels invincible. Free, comfortable and happy. She looks back at her more stringent-looking mother giving her the looks she's seen before. Slowly, walking away from the shore, through the sand to her rainbow towel she sadly plops down to sit next to her mother. Staring back at what could have been her dream come true. Her mother begins to take out their lunch and she continues to stare at the water and while her mother is busy paying no attention to her she is thinking. She thinks about it and then doesn't think anymore. Next thing she knows, she has her mother running behind her, chasing her, demanding her to have lunch and to not be so silly. She keeps running and builds up her speed. She reaches the dolphins and a smile the size of the sun, rises on her face. Her mother stumbles across the shore and as much as she wants to think she is the right one here she knows she has to let her grow up. She has to let her go. She comes back to her mother, and her mom wraps her arms around her daughters shoulders and walks with her peacefully back to their towel. They sit down and enjoy their lunch, watching the dolphins make their way across the ocean in front of them.
