I am really excited about tonight! It is the first time I have been invited to a dance party! And the guy who invited me as dance partner is Jason! He is the most popular and handsome guy in school! He can dance, sing, play basketball well, he is just so perfect! How come he would want to invite me to his party? I am just a normal girl, who always gets bullied by other girls… “Forget about it! You are not a girl who always get bullied in school today, you are a queen, you are Jason’s dance partner tonight.” I tell myself and I smile and laugh like an idiot. I lie on my sofa and think about things I need to be prepare, what am I going to wear? What are the dancing step that teacher taught me before? And then I fall asleep.

I wake up, oh my god! It is already 7:30! Jason said he is going to pick me up at 8 o’clock! I must be hurry! I run into my bedroom, pick a nice dress, and go into washroom and take a shower, after I get out; it is already 7:45! And I put my dress up, comb my hair, and then my mom suddenly walks in my room angrily and asks: “Where are you going? You know you can never go out! ” I beg: “Please mom! Just this time! I will never go out anymore! I am just going to a dance party with people in school and a guy called Jason!” “Jason? Your classmates? They are just all bad! Mans are all bad just like your father! It will never be so easy! The only place you can go is school and home, home and school! Go back to your room or do you want me to lock you in the closet!? ” I almost cry out, every time I go into that closet, I feel so scared, so helpless, it is so dark and so quiet inside, and sometimes I feel so hard to breath. I don’t want to go in!

Ba ba. Jason has arrived! I must go! Or I will never have the face to see him or go to school! I am already eighteen; I can decide what I want! I push my mom hard and run out the house into Jason’s car; she falls and yell, “ How dare you!!!” But she can’t catch up.“ Hi, you look beautiful.” Jason gives me a big smile. “Thank you.” My heard is still bumping. On the way to the party, Jason and I have some conversation, and I forget about my mom. When we enter the party, I am shocked, so… this is what a party looks like. The light is kind of dark; there are lots of cakes, drinks, and lots of people. They all wear nice dresses and suit. I recognize Susan and her girl group, who always bully me, laugh at me in school. So I try to avoid having eye contact with them, but they keep looking at me and giving me evil smile. “ Do you want to dance?” Jason asks. “ But, I am not a good dancer…” I answer. “It is easy, come on, I’ll teach you.” He holds my hand, and he tells me to follow his steps, he is so kind and so wonderful. This is the best moment I have in my life. “You are a good dancer, Ashley.” Jason looks into my eyes and says. I am so shy so I can’t say anything.

After dancing for a while, “Now, it is the time to pick the dance queen and king in the party!” the Dj says. And then everyone gets a small paper, there are names of some dance couples, and we have to vote for the best dance couple, they will be the dance queen and king, they will have crowns and a king and queen seat! I will never sit there, I think. “Who should we pick?” I ask Jason. “Why don’t we pick ourselves?” Jason smile. And then he takes my paper and ticks our name on the paper. And gives it back to the Dj. I am scared, but also wish I could be elected.

After the calculated, the Dj had a small card, he said, “ After our calculation, the queen and king for this dance party are… Jason and Ashley?” I am shocked, and I can’t react. “Come on, it’s us!” Jason holds my hand and walks on stage. Clapping and cheering, and flashing cameras were all around us. I am really happy and excited. I smile. It is so wonderful and unbelievable. And the Dj puts the crown on my head. It was kind of light, lighter than I thought, so this is the feeling of being on stage and getting cheered by people!

Splash! Suddenly, I can’t see anything in front, my mind goes blank. The claps stop, the party becomes so silent, there is something that smells really really bad. And my body gets wet. I can only hear Jason shouting at something, I don’t know what it is. I wipe my eye; I see the big screen in front of me was showing all the clips of times that I get bullied, that I do something stupid, being dumb in school. And then, the crowds laugh, they all laugh so hard, like it was the funniest thing in the world. Susan shouts out: You damn stupid girl ahahahahhahaahhaha… I crawled my body, put my head in my knee, and started to cry… Why… Why… Why!

Suddenly, Susan’s laugh turns into SpongeBob’s laugh, I open my eyes; I don’t see Susan, the crowds, party or Jason. There is only the TV and sofa. So it was all just a… dream?! I ask myself. I look at the clock, it is 7:30, my mom is sleeping in the bedroom, and there is a message sent by Jason said “I am coming to your home now.” So it was just a horrible dream… I tell myself. I go to shower, I still remember every detail in the dream, and I pick a nice dress, comb my hair. And then I hear the horn blare downstairs, I walk slowly to the door …
