Misplaced
Dear Diary,
I have this friend. Her name is Stormy. You don’t know this about me yet, but I usually take on my friends problems as my own, and I like writing down my problems, obviously.
Stormy’s parents split up when she was eight years old. I remember because I, along with my two sisters were at her house three days prior to them splitting up on a night most would refer to as destructive. It was a Friday night. Stormy’s parents were going out and her sister, Tiffany, got stuck babysitting all four of us. We were having a pretty good time, until their parents got home. I could sense from the moment I heard the car door slam, that something was wrong. Seconds later I heard yelling, and then Tiffany was practically shoving us in to her bedroom. I heard more yelling. Stormy began to cry, realizing how embarrassing it was for her friends to be on scene for one of her parents’ biggest fights. We packed up our things, assuming we weren’t staying the night that night. When we seen the coast was clear, we made a run for the door. Stormy told her sister that she was going to stay at my house for the night, and then we left.
The next morning, when she returned home, she felt emptiness in the air as she was informed that her dad had gone to jail for something she later found out was a misunderstanding. The whole living room was shuffled around, and broken along with her family, and not a single object wasn’t out of place. Her mom and Tiffany spent the day cleaning and crying. Since she was half traumatized, she didn’t have to do much.
That was the last big fight her parents had because as soon as her dad got out of jail, he kicked her mom out. Her life has changed dramatically since. After about two years, she was old enough to realize that there was no putting back the pieces of her life that had been misplaced.
Stormy has been through so much in her life. Haven’t we all?
