Parker
It was a dark and stormy day walking through the woods where my parents were killed. I didn’t walk alone though. I have my 17 year old brother Tex, and my 15 year old sister named ash. It’s been a little over a year now. The investigation ruled their deaths as a suicide even though, they were shot in the head 7 times. But, to this day I still wonder why. Why my parents. And who killed.
“Hey Parker what’s that on the ground? “Ash inquired as she pointed at a base of a tree.” It looks an envelope.” It was an envelope with Tex’s name on it. “It has my name on it.” Tex mumbled. “It’s probably some crude joke ill just open it.” What does it say?” I squeaked. “It says in one day you will know the answers to the murder.” Tex read. “Um this is going to sound weird but, I don’t want to figure it out I just want to leave it alone.” I honestly thought that this was some crude joke and nothing important.my brother’s eyes started to water so we just turned around and walked home. I couldn’t forget about the note though. I wondered who would be so mean and do this to my family. As I laid in my bed I realized that I couldn’t fall asleep. I thought that maybe Ash would help me. So I quietly got out of my bed and tiptoed across the hall towards my sister’s room.
“Ash………. Ash... Ash please wake up.” I whispered “What?” “I can’t fall asleep so I thought that maybe you and I could go for another walk.” “Okay, let me just grab something.” She had gotten up to grab the flashlights that she kept in her room in case the power went out.
When my sister and I were walking we both felt as if we were being followed. But, for some reason I had the compulsion to keep going, which worried my sister. So we walked a little farther before turning around. Just before we turned around I caught glimpse of two envelopes in the ground. I picked them up and, turned around to see my sister telling me to come to her. That’s when I saw the light that turned on in the house. We ran back to the house to find my brother in his room crying. While Ash comforted him, I snuck into my room to read the contents of the envelopes. But, before I was able to open the first envelope I heard my sister calling my name.
“Coming!” I had yelled as I unlocked the door. As I ran to her room I continued to rip open the envelopes.
“This is what I found in the woods.” I mumbled as I finished ripping the envelopes. What was in the first envelope was another crude letter stating that they were sorry for our loss and that they knew the answers to the murder. But, what bothered me was the second envelope and, how it told us that if we didn’t go to the Dwisenhoff high school tomorrow somebody we loved would die.
When it was time to go to school Ash and, I were very worried. Tex was throwing up so he had to stay home. Ash insisted that we stay home but, I told her we have to go since I didn’t want her to die.
Ash
When parker and I reached school, I had a very weird feeling. That feeling didn’t go away even after I was in first hour. About ten minutes after the bell rang a substitute teacher walked in.
“Sorry I’m late but this high school is so confusing, my name is Mrs. Stella.” She announced. “Today Mrs. Arne is gone and you are to work on your radical expression worksheets that you had received yesterday. As I went to go open my backpack to grab the worksheet, the intercom went off indicating that we were having a lockdown drill. We all got out of our pale blue seats and, walked towards our designated spots, just as Mrs. Stella locked the doors. We sat there for about five minutes waiting for the intercom to say all clear but, something was wrong. And then, we heard it. A gunshot that echoed in the hallway leading towards our classroom.
“Where is she?” a male voice yelled. Everyone’s breathing had sped up but you couldn’t hear it over the banging of the lockers and, frightening yelling of the intruder. “Are you sure she’s down here?” a light voice stuttered. As they got closer and closer they got more and more angry. “I am never wrong!” “Well there was that one time you were wrong.” “Shut up! We have to get this done before the client gets here.” “Okay, Okay…….then where is she?” “Shut up!!”
Their voices kept getting closer and closer. With each of their loud steps I trembled more and more. ”Alright she’s in here open the lock!” the male voice boomed. “Are you sure?” “Yes, now open the door. At that point somebody started to cry but, to this day I haven’t found out who it was. The door knob started to jingle and, every second seemed to take forever as the intruders picked the locks. The door opened and, the lights turned on. “There she is grab her.” They grabbed me and I didn’t object because, they probably would have shot someone.
“You are Ash Etaska right?” “Yes.” “Good lets go. We walked upstairs towards the main doors. That’s when I saw Parker. “Come on you, let’s go.” After he yelled that Parker ran over to me and grabbed my hand. As soon as we got outside they made us sit on the hard cement steps. Parker scooted closer to me when they weren’t looking. It seemed that we were going to be killed. “Here comes the client.” The young woman proclaimed. We looked up to see a tall young man in a large coat and unusually large sunglasses. “My name is Mr. T and I will tell you everything you need to know.” Parker squirmed and asked “Why were my parents killed?” “They were killed because somebody you know lost control of their emotions and, thoughts.” Mr. T smiled. “What does that mean?” Parker whined “It means that someone you know is secretly schizophrenic.” Mr. T laughed “Well who killed her parents then?
I struggled to say. “Come with me and I will show you.” Mr. T whispered and held his hand out to me to help me up. We then all went into a black ford. My sister and I realized that were headed to towards the woods where my parents were killed. When we arrived the made us get out.
“You really want to know who killed your parents.” MR. T asked. I nodded my head. Then Mr. T pulled of his coat and sunglasses revealing that it was Tex. “I did.” Tex said as he pulled out a gun “And I have to pay for it.” Then he shot himself. Even though my brother looked perfect it wasn’t enough.
