It was one day before the NFL draft and the fans were ready. The Minnesota Vikings were the first pick and there was a great atmosphere in the room. No one knows who will go where or if there will be some surprising picks. It all happens here and when that day comes all the hard work, the grind, and the intensity has paid off.

Marty Saint Louie is projected to be the number one pick. He is a huge receiver. He is 6 foot 4 and 235 pounds. In the combines he ran a 4.27 in the 40 yard dash, the fastest time of any other player except for the safety out of BYU. His name is Patrick Kane. He is 6 foot 2 and weighs 210 pounds. He ran a 4.12, the fastest time for any player ever in the combines. Marty Saint Louie is out of the collage Alabama where he was a walk-on his sophomore year. It’s been an amazing couple seasons watching him develop into the almost sure number one pick.
The first quarter back to be selected is Jake King out of Texas A&M. He is an under sized NFL quarter back, but he knows how to win. When he sat down with Mel Kiper he told him that he was ready for whatever happens. He is very excited to get his chance and hopes to be a star. The new owner of the NFL, Jacob Anderson, had a sit down meal with Jake King and asked him what pick he was expecting to get chosen. Jake King said, “I want to go number one if at all possible, but the Minnesota Vikings already have a good quarter back named Cean Shands. He was drafted number three in 2010 and has had 2 good seasons so far. Jake King said that if he gets the chance he will shine and get his team to the Super Bowl. At scout day, when all of the scouts from different pro teams came out to see what Jake could do, he looked really good.

Jake started off with some running drills and he was very fast, but a little slower than at the combines. He ran a 4.45 at the combines and he ran a 4.50 at scout day. He was really on at the throwing drills. People questioned him on the throwing decisions he had made in college and how it would transfer to the NFL, but he threw the ball great at scout day. Everyone told him to make smart passes and he showed them that he is a smart passer. Jake jogged out to the field after just drinking some Gatorade. The look on his face read DETERMATION. The first drill was passing under pressure. That was his struggle in college. He got the first couple of throws right on target. Then, he started throwing incomplete passes that would have been intercepted in the NFL. His draft stock was dropping rapidly. Now he was predicted to be picked in the top 10 instead of number one. He started throwing good after the rough start. After the disappointing day he was projected to go to the Chicago Bears. The Bears need a quarter back and he would fit their system. They already have a top 5 running back in Matt Benson and with Jake King and Benson in the back field that would be pretty scary.

It was finally Saturday, a night before the draft. A couple of players met each other at McDonalds in Time Square. They were discussing their draft and how they could improve. Conner Shaw, the corner back out of Florida had a great combine according to the Minnesota Vikings. He was a home town player. He was going to Minnesota before he had to move because he got kicked out for drug use. The NFL scouts and everyone around football are surprised that Florida still recruited him. Everyone in his home town did not want him on their team anymore. Everyone questioned him for his work ethic. In college he just left some work outs because he felt like it. If he started doing that in the NFL he would not be there long. All the players went to bed after a hard day of work. Every player knew that if they wanted to do well they would have to get some sleep.

The Draft was on the clock, it read 11 hours and 31 minutes. It was a long time, but not too long. Jake King called the Vikings about the pick. He asked them if he would be chosen. He was the kid everyone was talking about in Minnesota. If they did not pick him and stayed with Cean Shands the team would erupt. They did not like their quarter back and they didn’t like the wide receiver, Marty Saint Louie. The Vikings general manger gave Conner a call. Conner replied, “Are you really going to pick me after what I have done?” The GM replied, “We are strongly considering it.” Conner said, “But the city will hate me and I might even get some death threats!” The Gm said “They won’t hate you if you become a good player.”

It was an hour before the draft and all of the projections and everything said ahead of time really meant nothing. Before the ESPN people could get seated in their seats most of the fans were in their seats. The ESPN announcers were talking about the projections and what players would help what teams most. Before you knew it the Minnesota Vikings were on the clock. They had 10 minutes to either save the franchise or break it. The Vikings want Marty Saint Louie, but there are teams behind them that want him more. Everyone was going crazy looking up the players to make the right pick. Rodger Goodell announced that the Vikings pick was in.
With the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Conner Shaw, the cornerback out of Florida. Everyone was stunned. They knew what he did to his home town in college and they had not forgiven him. The second pick was Kevin Benjamin, the tackle out of USC. “The Packers are on the clock.” Goodell announced. The Packers didn’t know what to do with their pick. The Packers GM, Tom Rodgers, called up Vikings GM, Frank Anderson and asked him “Want to make a deal?” Frank replied “Yes, for the right price.” The Packers GM said, “I will trade you the first round pick, number 5 overall, for two second round picks and a third round pick. Frank thought that over. Tom Rodgers said, “is it a deal or not?” “If you make this deal and come through with the right pick the city will love you, but on the other hand if you make a crappy pick you will probably be fired!”
The deal was done. It was the Vikings staff now going crazy. They can’t believe it. The Vikings fans are chanting, “KING, KING!” They want King. The Vikings pick is in. Only the GM knows what pick they chose. As Rodger Goodell takes the podium the Vikings fans are going nuts over the moves they have made. The commissioner steps to the microphone, “With the 5th pick in the 2015 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Johnny Metanburgh, the corner back from UCLA.” Everyone boooos as he takes the stage. The Vikings fans shake their heads and talk about how bad their season is going to be. Cean Shands is pumped for the season and with just over 2 months till kickoff he can barely wait. The season isn’t going to be so bad after all.

The end!
