Altitude
Jenna always considered herself to be a normal girl. She got somewhat good grades and had a good amount of friends, but she still felt cursed. Jenna was tall. Not a regular tall, she was a tall that could not be ignored. A tall that announced it self.
She did everything to try and fix it, but nothing seemed to work. One day Jenna was sitting in her morning class and she heard something that caught her attention. “If you are interested in running track there will be informational meeting in room 102.”At first she thought nothing of it at first but as the day progressed the thought of running was making its way through her head. Last period came and she finally made up her mind. So she went.
When she got there it was a complete mix of people. Football players, cheerleaders, basketball players, kids from the robotics club, and people who probably weren’t going to be academically eligible. And then there was tall skinny Jenna who felt completely out of place. She had no idea what events she wanted to run or what to say or do. At that moment Jenna was ready to make a run for it when Mrs. Brandi started talking.
Jenna listened to what she had to say and was convinced. When Mrs. Brandi spoke it was like an angel answering all of Jenna prayers. Jenna made up her mind that she was going to run. As she was leaving Mrs. Brandi called her back to talk alone. Jenna poured her heart out to this stranger but somehow it felt right.
Mrs. Brandi waited till she was done then promised one thing. She said “I will help you get over all of that.” She knew then that she was going to enjoy track.
