I reach for my holster, retrieving the glock out of its place. I raise it high aiming for the body target in the firing range. I send the bullet past the target dinging off the wall. I cock the gun and raise the gun again. The bullet hits the target this time.
"Very nice Shane, but I expect you to be practicing more." James (the director of the FBI) says.
"Thank you James, but I have been practicing for the past three weeks."
"3 weeks or not if you continue to shoot like this you will never be able to get the lead of a case."
I lower the gun and slip it back into its holster. James walks away fluently his dress shoes clack on the floor. I walk to my office and sit down in the chair. At the door stands my best friend Ian.
"Hey Shane." Ian says.
"Hey Ian."
"So Shane I heard you and James talking in the gun range."
"Ian I don't want to talk about it."
"Dude common I could help you, teach you how to shoot better."
"I don't think its just that, I don't think he trusts me too handle a case on my own."
"So you're just gonna sit in her and pout about it? Go to him and talk to him about it."
"Do you think it will help."
"I know it will."
I get up and head out the door and continue down the hallway until I reach James office. I knock on the door and stand there praying that talking to him will help.
"Come in."
I open the door and see Director James sitting at his desk.
"Hello there Shane, why are you here."
"I'm here to talk to you about what happened down at the gun range."
"Shane I wouldn't waste your time, your not cut out yet to lead in a case."
"Come on sir, i'll never be able to prove to you that I can lead a case if you never let me try."
"Shane I don't know if letting you handle a case would be a good decision."
"Please James."
"Alright fine. But if you mess up, you'll be off the FBI for good."
"Thank you James. But what is my case going to be?"
"A girl has been kidnapped around the area. Supposedly she was walking home from school and was kidnapped. Here is a file of what she looks like, her age, and other details you may need to know. Not only me but her family is also counting on you. Don't disappoint us."
"I wont."
I get up and shake James hand and leave the room. I walk back to my office and sit down at my desk. I open the folder and scan the information in it. The girl is 11 years old, she has long brown hair with hazel eyes. The school she goes to is Maple Grove Middle School and lives on Twin Palms Avenue. On the bottom of the file displays a number, the mother of the girls phone number. Suddenly the phone on my desk rings. I reach across the table and pick the phone up..
"Hi this is Shane from the department of the F.B.I."
"Hi Shane I would like to report some strange activity around my neighborhood, I was on my porch when I saw a man driving a van with a girl that I would say was around the age of 10 in the back pounding on the window. I recently gotten an amber alert on my phone for a missing girl around the neighborhood. I don't know if the girl is the kidnapped girl or not but I figured it wouldn't hurt to send in a call to you."
"Thank you for the information mam, can you give me a description of the van this girl was in? License plate, color, model?"
"I wasn't able to read the full licence plate but the car was a darker blue, and I believe that the model of the van was a Ford Wind star. And the bottom sides of the car were rusted away. She was in the back seat window pounding and yelling and that's all I can remember."
"Thank you mam, do you know what street he was turning on too?"
"He was turning on to Mulberry Street."
"Thank you for the help."
"Anytime."
I hang up the phone and get up out of my chair. I hurry over to my coat rack and slip on the jacket and leave the room. I hop on the elevator and take it down to the lobby. I race out of the elevator and burst through the lobby doors into the chilly outside. I open the the car door and put the key in the ignition. I turn the car to reverse and back up. I put the car into drive and race out of the parking lot. I pull onto Mulberry and see a navy blue van.
"Found ya."
I swerve next to the guy and start to yell out to the person.
"Stop your vehicle!"
The person slows down and pulls off to the side of the street. I hop out of my car and walk towards the vehicle. When I get to the car window i'm surprised by what I see. There is a lady in the car, not a man.
"Who are you." The lady saws gently in a innocent tone.
"I'm Shane from the department of the FBI." I hold the badge up to the face of the lady.
"Well hello Shane, I am wondering why you pulled me over?"
"Ma'am I am looking for a Kidnapper around the area that has kidnapped a young girl and the suspects car description matched your car very closely."
"That's awful sir, I hope you find her."
"Thank you ma'am."
I lean away from the car and open my car door and get in and shut it. The car pulls out onto the road and drives away fading into the street. I pull the car around and turn off of the street. When we get back to the office I sat down and thought where could this man be. I look back into the folder and flip through it page by page. Nothing. I get up and walk across the hall to Ian's office.
"Any luck?" Ian says.
"No, I am stressed that I don't have anything on this guy yet."
"Listen Shane to get this out of your mind I'll take you out for lunch. How does that sound?"
"Alright Ian, lets go."
He stands up and walks past me and I follow. We walk down the hall and get into the elevator. We get into Ian's car and he peels off onto the street.
"Where do you wanna eat?"
"It doesn't matter to me."
Ian pulls into portillos and we hop out of the car. We open the door and walk in. As usual its jam packed. I make my way into the line and order my food. As soon as I sit down with my food, my phone goes off. I reach in my pocket and pull out my phone.
"Hello this is Shane from the FBI."
"Shane come to Lone Thorn avenue quick. There is a little girl being dragged out of a house into a van. You need to come!"
"Ma'am don't do anything stay where you are, don't approach the kidnapper."
"I think the man sees me. Oh no(Boom)!Beeeeepppppppppppp......"
"S***, the call ended. Ian we've got to go! Ill explain to you in the car."
I burst through the front door and make my way to the car and open the passenger door.
"Ian come on we've gotta move!"
Ian hops in the drivers seat and turns the key. I reach into the glove box and pull out a pistol. I load the gun and hold it firmly in my hands.
"Shane where are we going?"
"Lone Thorn avenue."
He turns to the left and races down the road. Ian turns into Lone Thorn avenue.
"Get ready Shane."
We see the car taking off down the road turning the corner.
"There he is Ian! Follow him!"
He drives even faster and cuts the corner. The kidnapper turns into a neighborhood and pulls into the woods. We follow but the car gets off the path and makes its way through the woods. We lose the car in the woods.
"Damn it, keep driving Ian."
Ian keeps driving and then we see the car crashed into a tree coming up.
"Get out of the car with your hands up." Nothing, no response.
I hop out of the car with my gun raised up. I run up to the window and lean the gun into the car. Nobody.
"Follow me!"
I run deep into the woods and after running for a couple minutes someone comes into view, the kidnapper. Put your hands up. The man turns around with his gun up to the girls head.
"I'll shoot her if you take 1 more step!" The man shouts.
I don't move, the gun still aimed at the man. I see someone come out of there house holding something big, pan like.
"OK! I'll put the gun down, but when I do let the girl go." I set the gun down and kick it away from me.
"You fool, why would I give the girl up."
"But why do you want this girl?"
"Because I'm a kidnapper, for a young beautiful girl like this, there are many reasons why I would kidnap her. But no need for details. What would you give me for her back."
I stalk watching the lady approach slowly from behind the man.
"I wouldn't give your evil a** anything."
"Fine with me, you won't like this outcome though."
He raises the gun up and aims at me.
"See ya around."
Bang! The pan collides with the mans head as he drops to the ground. I race over to the man and kneel next to him. He's knocked out cold.
"Thank you ma'am for the help, but how did you know what was going on?"
"Well I could see you from the inside of my house and I knew you guys were in trouble."
"Are you alright little girl."
"I'm fine, who are you?"
"Shane from the FBI."
"Thank you Shane."
The girl hugs me with joy.
"My pleasure, now let's get you out of here and get you too your parents."

I watch a lot of investigation discovery shows and I thought I would write a kidnapping story of my own. But the ending is a little twist that I thought would be unique. Enjoy!
