“Today’s the day.” I thought. I packed the cupcakes in the basket and set off. I knew I had to cross the woods, but I never guessed this would happen. I pulled out my phone to see the time. I had plenty.  As I walked through the woods, I looked around to see if there were any neighborhoods in sight. That’s when I realized I wasn’t going anywhere. Everywhere I looked I saw trees, brush and ponds. “This is bad.” I thought. “Really bad.” I checked my phone. Great. The battery was in the red. The sun was setting. Lovely. I was gonna be here for the night, since my phone was dead and I couldn’t use the flashlight.  Good thing I have water too. The sun had now completely set. Stars filled the sky, and the moon light shone upon the forest. I wasn’t sure how long I was gonna be in here,  but I needed sleep, I could plan ahead in the morning.

I made a bed by laying a blanket on the ground and using my bag as neck support. It was fine for the first night. When the sun rose, I was awakened by the bright light that reminded me I was still here. I had about three cupcakes left, and one was breakfast. Even though it was spring, it was chilly at night. So I had to gather some sticks to get a fire going. Luckily, there was plenty of them scattered about. I picked up a really sharp one I thought would be useful for hunting. I would have to stick to wild strawberries and other edible fruit for plants and small game like squirrels and fish for meat.

Another night passed, and another, and another, until I was unsure I was ever gonna be found. I had become quite good at hunting squirrels, I would use the bow I had made from a sharp stick and string to kill the squirrel and another sharper stick to clean it, fillet it, and roast it over the fire.  I had killed at least five squirrels in the past couple days.

I was tired, and had decided to try and fall asleep for an hour or two.  I was half asleep when I heard footsteps crunching the leaves and grass on the fresh spring ground. I was instantly startled. Was it a bear? A deer? Or possibly a hunter? As the steps drew closer, I noticed it was a group of people. As you can imagine the first thing they asked was why I was here and how I got here, along with how long.

After all that was answered, they led me out of the woods, eventually to my house. Hey, if anything good came out of this,it was that I got my fifteen minutes of fame the next day. It is certainly not something Ill be forgetting soon.
