Olympic Deam
Megan is a gymnast that loves to do gymnastics because it it is her passion and it makes her happy. She goes to school and is normal, like any other teen. Megan has no father to support her family. Megan is happy when she does gymnastics because she says it calms her stress from homework and school, and sometimes it even calms her sadness from not having a father. Megan is an elite gymnast training at Champion gymnastics and has won so many first places she was offered a chance to go to the Olympic trials to try to win a spot for the 2016 Olympic games.
“We have seen your hard work and dedication for a chance like this and we were wondering if you would like to accept the offer so you could go to the Olympic trials?” ask the judges. Screaming with joy Megan says yes.
A month had passed after she got the news, and ever since, she has not stopped training. One day in the gym, she notices that she has a difficult time doing a skill and notices she can not focus very well. When she arrives home she tells her mom (Ellen) that she has a hard time focusing .
“Mom, I do not find this normal, at all,” shaking, Megan tells her mom. “I just can not concentrate.”
“If you feel like it isn’t normal, then I will schedule a doctor’s appointment,” says Ellen.
While Ellen is scheduling an appointment, Megan gets in the car to wait for her mom to take her to the doctors; but she notices that her mom is not going outside, so Megan goes inside to tell her mom to hurry up but, the doctors appointment was not until the next day.
The next day, they drove to Megan’s doctor appointment. In the waiting room, Megan decides to do gymnastics. She then hears her name and walks in to see the doctor with her mom.
“What is going on because your mom said this was urgent?” questioned the doctor.
“Well, I do gymnastics, and I was trying to concentrate on this skill I was having trouble with and… I just can not focus, it’s just too hard!“ claimed Megan.
The doctor runs some exams on Megan and tells Megan and Ellen that the results will arrive the following week.
When the exam result come in, Megan finds out that she is diagnosed with autism;
“NO! This isn’t happening; I cannot have autism, it will just slow me down and push me away from my goal!” cried Megan.
“Everything is going to be all right, Honey.” says Ellen trying to calm Megan down.
“No, it’s not; mom you know how important this is to me!” exclaims Megan.
“What are you talking about?” asks Ellen.
“The Olympic trials are almost here and I do not have any idea about how I will be able to focus.” says Megan.
After a while Megan calms down and stops crying.
“I will get that gold medal; somehow, I just need to work harder,” says Megan.
Later that day, Megan goes to the gym to announce the news to her teammates and coaches. Although they were in shock, they said that they will support her, except for her best friend, Samantha, or as Megan likes to call her Sam. Megan and Sam have a long conversation about autism. Megan starts crying; because, she knows that having autism will be an obstacle for her being a step closer to the gold medal, she just needs to try to focus more. Although Megan wants to succeed and win the medal, she has some obstacles to overcome besides autism, like for example, a possibility of not being able to qualify to the Olympics in the Olympic trials, a fear of getting an injury, she is afraid of not getting a chance to qualify to the Olympic games, not being able to land her triple arabian on floor;but, she just has to work hard, and because of autism, all her fears may come true. She is just under too much pressure. She has also been struggling with things at home besides the fact that she has no father.
The day had come for the Olympic trials and Megan was stressed about not qualifying to the Olympic games, but nothing was stopping her now.
She begins confident and under control and everything goes well, that is until she gets to floor and has a hard time keeping track with her music. She lands every tumbling pass, but then it comes time to do her roundoff backhand spring triple back arabian, she goes for it but lands wrong. She gets sent to the emergency room immediately and finds out that she sprained her ankle. While in the emergency room she gets some news from her mom:
“You got qualified!” screams Ellen with excitement.
“You are lying right?!” screams Megan
When Megan finds out that her mom was not lying she cries with tears of joy. Since she sprained her ankle she decides to compete with one leg because there is no other way.
Olympic day came and Megan was nervous but was as ready as can be. She started off on vault and surprisingly landed her vault, she then moved on to bars and also landed with one leg, then she moved on to beam and kept her balance with one leg; finally, it came down to the last event, which was floor; Megan’s worst event. Everything went well and she was enjoying herself for a moment until it came time to do her triple back arabian. She went for it and… she landed it with one leg! At that moment the audience cheered for Megan and Megan herself cheered.
The award ceremony began and the announcer did not call Megan once; but then it came time for the all around medalist.
“In third place, from Romania, Nadia Comaneci” says the announcer.
“In second place, from Russia, Aliya Mustafina!” says announcer.
“And in first place, from the United States of America, Megan Kim!” says the announcer.
Crying with tears of joy Megan gladly accepts the Gold Medal.
“Working for this medal was not very easy, in fact it was not easy at all; but it was all worth it even though I went through tears, and blood, sweat, cries of wanting to give up, it was all still worth it in the end.”
A week passed after she won the gold medal in the Olympic games, and Megan was not feeling good. She was sent to the emergency room. She was then diagnosed with cancer; but, she knew she only had a little bit of time left to live. She did all she wanted to do like visit Disneyland and visit the Bahamas. The next week, Megan died because the cancer went all over her body and it was to hard for her to handle.
“Mom don’t forget about me!” screams Megan
“What is that you said?” asks Ellen.
Ellen walks in Megan’s room to find her on the floor Dead.
“No this can not be possible!” screams Ellen.
“Wait I think I heard something!” says Ellen.
Ellen quickly grabs the phone and calls the ambulance. While waiting Ellen was scared and crying. When the ambulance arrived they took Megan to the hospital.
Ellen entered the hospital and waited until the doctor let her in the room to see Megan.
“Megan? … Megan!” Ellen cried with tears of depression and sadness.
“I am so sorry for your loss.” says the doctor.
“Can I have a moment with Megan alone?” asks Ellen.
“Of course you can,” says the doctor.
Ellen grabs Megan’s hand and finds them very cold and her face white and pale. After a while of “talking” to Megan, Ellen then notices that Megan was still moving , she immediately calls the doctor and the doctor notices that she is still alive but she is not breathing, Ellen still has not let hope go.
“I have never ever seen anything like this before,” says the doctor surprisingly, “Call a specialist immediately.”
When the specialist arrives, Ellen had to be excused from the room. After a while of waiting, Ellen is excused back into the room with no news. Not even the specialist knows what is going on with Megan. Ellen spend the night with Megan by her side.
In the middle of the night, Megan opens her eyes and starts walking and does so silently. When morning arrives, Ellen wakes up to find Megan gone, she gets scared and starts to look for Megan at all her favorite places and does not find her anywhere. Then she remembers that she did not look for her in one of her most favorite places, the gym. She enters the gym to find Megan inside the gym doing gymnastics. The weird thing is that she was unconscious of what she was doing and she was not breathing as well. When she fell she got back up again and when she started to bleed she licked it off. Ellen saw that it was not normal that once she licked her blood she wanted more. Ellen evacuated people out of the gym while she handled Megan, but when Ellen returned inside the gym, Megan was gone and nowhere to be found…
“Ellen, wake up she is here, your baby, she is born” says the doctor.
“I am going to name her, Megan,” says Ellen.
“‘MEGAN! what a good name for a girl.” says Sarah.
Ellen had been telling Sarah about how she wanted her daughter to be (although she went overboard with her daughter becoming a vampire and dying and all she was still on anesthesia.) and by the way, Sarah is Ellen’s best friend. Ellen wants Megan to finish what Ellen could not finish because when Ellen was around the age sixteen, Ellen had the same opportunity as the judges gave Megan. The only difference was, Ellen was not able to go to the Olympic games because she sprained her ankle but did not choose to continue like Ellen wants Megan to do. Ellen does not want Megan to die but Ellen wants Megan to be mysterious and she wants her to succeed and wants to see Megan reach the top. Ellen wants Megan to be an Olympian and live an OLYMPIC DREAM!
