No Harm in That

Bang! Her flesh parted as a bullet went straight through to her heart. She fell to the floor in slow motion as her rival was perched in a chair with this cold long finger gripping the gun tight. A smile spread across his face as his eyes followed her down to the ground. * Click * My long now skinny fingers are wrapped around the remote with one finger was still resting on the power button. I had seen that movie a million times. I swung my leg around to the other side of the bed taking all of the thin sheets with me. Two of them fall off the bed as my feet reached the cold tile floor and set forward in a dash toward the bathroom.

Two nights ago my blankets were wrapped tight around me. Underneath them I was sporting sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt. My mom had stopped making homeless references when my fever jumped up to 103. Every inch of me was dripping in sweat. Every time a bead of sweat trickled down my face I felt like that one bead was my savior. It would drip down my face and treat me with the feeling of warmth. The warmth that the blankets were lacking to give me.

“Mom! I can't take it any more,” I said. The sound of speedy foot steps were coming my way to hopefully relive some of my pain. The metal clicked in the handle of my door when the wood swung open and pushed a cold breeze in my face. Her floral print dress was perfectly pressed each crease exactly how it should be. High heels clicked across the wooden floor and a cold hand landed on my face. This was the last thing I wanted. Her hand was as cold as winter.

“Hun, I am so sorry but we have to go. You can't stay at home like this any more. Come on. Get up ,” she said. My legs threatened to cramp when I stretched my muscles. The floor was uninviting and cold to my hot skin. Slowly my body started to work again and I stood up pursing my mom's request. Suddenly the room span round and the world went dark.

A strong metal taste over took my mouth when the dark world was slowly coming back to reality. A throb was pulsating through my tongue, head and arm. As the morbid reality sunk in I knew where I was.

“Are the lights on?” I said. The last thing I need is to open my eyes to a bright light glaring in my face.

“No, I turned them off for when you woke up,” he said. His voice melted in my ears and filled me with a little bit of warmth. My eyes snapped open to examen the mysterious voice. The first thing I saw was a dark figure standing in the corner. As my eyes adjusted I saw him. His hair was a dark mahogany color and contrasted perfectly with his wrinkle free skin. A white lab coat fit him loosely while his dark blue shirt underneath was snug. I could tell just from here he was in shape. My eyes quickly darted back up to his face as he paced over to my bed side.
