"Dream as if you'll live forever, and live as if you'll die today"

I clench my books a little tighter against my chest, trying hard not to return your gaze which somehow seems to follow me as I pass. I take my usual seat across from you as your gaze only seems to deepen. Eventually my eyes look up to meet yours, and instantly I allow myself to get lost, but only for a moment. A moment longer and I would have drowned in the deep green pools that are your eyes, never to return again. My eyes finally look away, and I am allowed to breath, as your gaze, which too was mine, becoming ours, is broken.
Time passes slowly, and suddenly I feel myself beginning to grow anxious. Anxious for your emerald green eyes to meet mine, as I get lost in them again for only the hundredth time. My mouth forms into a small smile just at the thought of our gaze returning again- only this time maybe I wouldn’t return, forever drowned in a pool of emeralds. No lifeguard would ever be able to save me! With that thought I began to laugh, and I almost didn’t notice you look over to me. Almost.
Our gaze had returned, but only this time I noticed a smile beginning to line your face. A smile almost as goofy as mine. In that moment I truly allowed myself to get lost in our gaze for the first time, ignoring the instinct to return again, as I had finally drowned. Finally engulfed in those pools of emeralds that I had longed to be since before the time of our gaze. And in that moment, I knew that I had finally fallen for you, as I saw you beginning to lose yourself for the first time just as I had only moments before.

"I have loved words and I have hated them and I have made them right."- The Book Thief: By Markus Zusak

Wow.... I absolutely love this. I really enjoy how you focus on such a small thing. Good poetic flow too!
