CHARLES: He is a 21 year old man who falls in love with his dream girl. He is a quiet kind of guy, but once you get to know him he is very lovely. He treats a girl how they should be treated; whether it be how a boy should treat an elderly woman or how a boyfriend should treat his girlfriend. His mom died when he was ten of breast cancer. His dad recently got in a car accident and died. Charles loves really hard. When he falls in love, he really is in love, just like with Selena. Charles is never without a smile. He is strong because he has been through so much in his life.

SELENA: She is in the spot light for her movie roles and her music. She has a huge fan base. She is constantly followed by the media. She is not like normal famous people, she has a sweet side too. She doesn't think she is better than anyone else. She hasn't done anything bad and is a good role model to all of the little kids who look up to her. She thinks of herself as a normal person.

DANNY: He has been Charles' best friend since second grade. He is really funny. He had a rough life growing up. His dad abused him and his mom was a drug addict. Danny is a crazy person; he likes to party and get wild.

KATE: She is Selena's manager, but also her best friend. She takes care of Selena's work and all of her events and concerts. She is very organized and does not like to have a lot of fun.

MRS. MARY: She is the owner of a coffee shop, Starbucks, where Danny and Charles work. She is Danny and Charles' boss.

MRS. WELL: She is the owner of Max Well's restaurant. Charles used to work there. She is like a mother figure to Charles. Charles takes care of her and she takes care of him. She gives the best advice to him about women. She is really old and getting sicker and sicker day by day. Charles loves her so much; she reminds him of his mom. He treats her really well, always gives her hugs and kisses, so she knows that he loves her. He treats her how he would treat his mom if she was still alive.






INT. STAR-BUCKS COFFEE SHOP- MORNING

A young man, dressed in black with an apron on, rushing around making a coffee.

CUSTOMER 1
Hurry up! I need to get to work!

CHARLES
I'm coming, I'm so sorry, ma'am. We have been so busy all day and we are running out of milk and...

CUSTOMER 1
Just make the coffee.

Charles walks over to the angry customer.

CHARLES
Here you go ma'am! I'm sorry for the wait.

Angered customer 1 walks out with a mad look.

DANNY
Wow! She was in a bad mood.

CHARLES
No I'm just a horrible clerk.

DANNY
No you are not you are one of the best workers Mrs. Mary has now a days. I here she is gonna give you a promotion soon.

CHARLES
Where did you hear that?

DANNY
I have my sources!

Danny walks away to refill someone's drink. Charles goes to the sink to clean the many dishes that need to be washed. In comes a group of girls. They then walk up to the counter. There is one girl who catches Charles' eye. She has long brown hair and blue eyes. She is the perfect girl in his eyes. Charles starts to become nervous and shy, just like he always does.

CHARLES
How may I help you all?

SELENA
Hi! I would like a frozen hot chocolate.

CHARLES
Is that it?

SELENA
Yes! Please

CHARLES
Okay, $6.99 is the total.

SELENA
Here you go.

Selena grabs her credit card and hands it to Charles. Their hands touch. Selena looks up, with a huge grin on her face. Charles smiles right back at her! Charles swipes her card and hands it back to her.

CHARLES
Here you go! Your frozen hot chocolate will be right up.

Danny walks back behind the counter and Selena walks alway. Danny then leans in toward Charles.

DANNY
Write your number on her coffee cup when you write down her name.I saw you looking at her, you are in love bro!

CHARLES
(Giggles)
No! That's too scary. I'm not like you. I can't just write my number down. I'm too scared!

DANNY
Just do it. If you don't you will regret it for the rest of your life.

CHARLES
Okay, okay! I will do it.

Charles finishes her cup and without any hesitation he writes, "have a great day beautiful" and his phone number. He then walks over to were she sat down.
CHARLES
Here you go! Enjoy your frozen hot chocolate!

Selena notices that her coffee has more written on it then the other girl's coffees do. She grins at Charles, but she still doesn't know what it says. Charles walks away very fast and into the back of the shop before Selena can say anything.

EXT. COMMUNITY FAIR- EVENING

Charles is walking into the fair with his best friend Danny. Charles spots the girl he saw earlier today in the coffee shop. Charles walks up to her.

CHARLES
Hey it's Charles from the coffee shop. Did you get my message on your coffee cup?

SELENA
Hey Charles I'm glad you finally told me your name! Yes I did! It was very cute. I was going to wait to do what you told me to do until tomorrow. I didn't want to seem like a crazy obsessed person.

CHARLES
(Giggles)
You wouldn't have seemed crazy! I understand where your coming from. Promise me you will call me tomorrow? I would love to take you out on a date someday.

Selena gets the biggest smile on her face. She starts to blush.

SELENA
I promise!

CHARLES
Alright I won't be too crazy and obsessed and I will let you go hang with your friends since that's what you came here for. I'll talk to you tomorrow!

INT. SELENA'S HOUSE- NEXT DAY

Selena walks down to her kitchen. It is around 1 o'clock and she had just woken up. She sees her roommate Kate.

SELENA
Hey Kate! What's up?

KATE
Hey girl! How was yesterday? Sorry I couldn't hang out with you guys I was too busy catching up on paper work and homework.

SELENA
It was fun! I got coffee and this guy.. Oh my goodness I have to call Charles before he thinks that I forgot about him! Hold on one second and I will tell you all about him.

Selena runs back upstairs and grabs her cleaned out coffee cup she left on her night stand. In bold letters was Charles' number. She then grabs her phone and dials his number.

INT. SELENA'S BEDROOM- AFTERNOON

DANNY
Hello?

SELENA
Hey Charles!

DANNY
Who is this?

SELENA
Selena, the girl you wrote your number on a coffee cup for.

DANNY
I have to give the phone to Charles first. This is his best friend Danny we are roomies! I'm the one who told him to put his number on your cup. If it wasn't for me he would have never done that. He is way to shy. I'll give the phone to char now.

Selena is so confused. At first she thought she was talking to Charles, but it ended up being some other weird guy.

DANNY
(Yells)
Charles your lover is on the phone!

Selena laughs. Charles comes running from his garage wear he was was working out.

CHARLES
Wait. What? Where? Is she still on the phone? Did u hang up?

DANNY
No dude, chill out, and breath. She is still on the phone.

CHARLES
Oh okay! Good!

Charles takes the phone and walks outside in his garage.

EXT. CHARLES GARAGE- AFTERNOON


CHARLES
Hey Selena!

SELENA
Hey your friend is cool..

CHARLES
Yeah I know he is weird.

SELENA
I kept my promise!

CHARLES
Yes you did! Now I'm going to keep my promise. My promise to myself. My promise was to have the courage to ask the girl of my dreams out on a date. I think you might be the girl of my dreams. So Selena will you go out with me on just one date. I know you probably think I'm a freak but I can't help the way I feel.

SELENA
Wow! You are so sweet. You are not a freak at all. You're a real genuine guy.

CHARLES
So will you go on a date with me!?You won't regret it.

SELENA
Yes, of course. I only have one request. I want to go on a date in your town. I live in Los Angeles and it is huge, busy, and just a mess. I know you live in a small town since I went to Starbucks in Hornbrook. Which is a town of only like what, 300 people?

CHARLES
We only have 285 residences in my town. It is small, quiet, and relaxing. Yes I will take you on a date here. It will be the best first date ever. I will pick you up tomorrow at 7 o'clock. Don't dress to beautifully just dress casually.

SELENA
Alright I'll be ready at 7.

INT. SELENA'S KITCHEN- AFTERNOON

Selena walks down the stairs to her best friend, Kate, waiting for her at the kitchen table.

SELENA
Hey girl! Sorry I was on the phone.

KATE
Who is this Charles guy that you were calling?

SELENA
The most perfect guy ever!

KATE
Really!? Awe that is so cute.

SELENA
Yes! I'm going on a date with him tomorrow.

KATE
Does he know that like everyone in the world knows you because your career?

SELENA
I don't think so.

KATE
WOW! That's cool that you found someone who doesn't know anything about you. He won't be like an obsessive fan. How are you going to tell him that? How are you going to tell your fans?

SELENA
Yeah. And I don't know yet. Let me just get past the first date.

INT. SELENA'S HOUSE- 6:57 PM

Selena is looking on her phone waiting for Charles to show up to her house. She hears a knock on the door, walks up to it, and opens to the door.

SELENA
Hey!

Charles' face is shocked.

CHARLES
Wow! You look so pretty!

SELENA
Thank you so much. You are to sweet and you look very handsome yourself!
(Giggles)

CHARLES
Thank you! Are you ready to go on the best date ever?
(He Winks)

SELENA
(Giggles)
I hope so!

INT. MAX WELL'S DINER. 7:45 at night

CHARLES
Hey Mrs. Well!

MRS. WELL
Hey Charlie! I haven't seen you in a while.

Charles runs up and gives the little old lady a big hug. Charles brings Mrs. Well to Selena.


CHARLES
This is one of the most important ladies in my life. This is Mrs. Well! She owns this restaurant and I come here all the time. I used to work here. These people are like family to me.

SELENA
Nice to meet you, Mrs. Well!

MRS. WELL
You take good care of my boy, okay!

Selena smiles.

SELENA
I will!

CHARLES
Alright, we are going to go eat! See you in a bit!

Charles hugs her. Selena waves goodbye and grabs on to Charles' arm. They walk into a room separated from the restaurant. They sit down at a booth. Selena sits on one side and Charles sits right next to her in the same booth. A waiter comes over and asks for their order and leaves.

SELENA
How can you be so sweet and be this perfect? I feel like it's not real. I don't know. I feel like it might be a dream. You might actually be mean or something. I don't know.

CHARLES
Shockingly, I get that all the time. People think I'm fake. I was just raised like this. I'm a very family oriented kind of guy. My mom raised me as a single mom. I saw my mom get treated so badly by men, and I learned not to treat woman like that. My grandparents taught me a lot of stuff too. My mom died two years ago and I changed. I picked up bad habits, but I realized that I don't want to live like that. I just don't like that type of life. I like the life I have with my best friend and Mrs. Well. I like being nice to everyone I meet. It's just who I am!

SELENA
I'm sorry for your lost. I'm glad you can open up to me like this. That is so sweet. Many people can't do that.

CHARLES
You are just really easy to talk to.

EXT. OUTSIDE MAXWELL'S RESTAURANT-EVENING

Charles and Selena are walking out the restaurant holding hands. He takes her to a little lake right outside the restaurant and they watch the sunset while sitting on the bench. He puts his arm around her and she put his head on his shoulder. A girl crying comes running up. It is a fan of Selena's. Charles is puzzled.

FAN
I'm a huge fan of your music and movies. Can I have your autograph and a picture.

SELENA
Of course.

Selena grabs the little girls cd and signs it. She looks at Charles and his looks a little upset. Charles gets off of the bench they were sitting on and walks to the car. Selena then poses for the picture.



SELENA
Thanks for all the support, sweetie!

FAN
Thank you for the picture and autograph. I love you!

SELENA
I LOVE YOU!!

The fan walks away and Selena walks to the car worried. She opens the door to the car and gets in.

SELENA
I'm sorry.

CHARLES
It is okay. Why didn't you tell me about your career?

SELENA
I just wanted to be normal for a day. I didn't want the paparazzi to follow me, people asking for my autographs, someone finding out that I'm a famous person and not normal. But obviously that will never happen.

CHARLES
I'm sorry. Realize that you have an amazing life that people dream of having.

SELENA
Do you not want to keep this thing we have going on going?

CHARLES
What? No, why? That never crossed my mind.

A smile appears on Selena's face.


CHARLES
I feel kind of bad that I had no idea who you were. Like I didn't know you were so called "famous."

SELENA
Well, you shouldn't feel bad. I like how you didn't know that. So you can actually treat me normally. Don't treat me like a famous person.

CHARLES
Oh no! I won't, I'll just treat you like my girlfriend.

Selena starts to blush and gets all shy. She then flashes the biggest smile to Charles. Charles starts the car. Waiting for her to answer something.

SELENA
And I'll treat you like my boyfriend.

Charles then takes Selena to a movie.

EXT. THE MOVIES- NIGHT

CHARLES
That was a pretty good movie. Did you like it?

SELENA
Yes! It is a bit chilly outside!

Charles takes off his jacket and puts it around her. He keeps his arm around her.
SELENA
Thank you!

CHARLES
Anytime!

They arrive to his car. Charles leans on the hood of the car.


Charles
I have one more special thing for you. Sit on the hood, I have to get it out of the trunk.

Charles walks to his trunk and grabs a picnic basket. In it is frozen hot chocolate and a blanket.

CHARLES
I had Danny bring us some frozen hot chocolate but I didn't know it would be cold outside. But I did know that you liked it since you ordered it when I first met you. Oh! I also brought a blanket where we can lay, look up at the stars, and just talk about everything.

SELENA
I love that idea. Thanks for the frozen hot chocolate. I love it.

Selena and Charles are laying on top of the hood of his jeep.

CHARLES
I need to tell you something, something that I have been wanting to tell you.

SELENA
(Confused)
What is it?

CHARLES
It is kind of embarrassing.

SELENA
Just say it.

CHARLES
Well I was raised as a good Christian and I want to stay true to what my mom and I believe, in and that is to save myself for marriage.


SELENA
That is not embarrassing. I have a purity ring. I don't want that type of relationship either.

CHARLES
Really!? Awesomeness!

SELENA
I have to tell you something.

CHARLES
(Confused)
Go a head.

SELENA
I kind of want to keep our relationship some sort of secret.

CHARLES
WHAT?

SELENA
No, not in a mean way.

CHARLES
Then in what way?

SELENA
Okay. Well I just got of this relationship, where it had been pretty much over for about six months, but we kept on getting back together. But I finally realized that it was not a good relationship.

CHARLES
Mhmm..

SELENA
I dated that pop-star named Aiden Right. So he has a huge fan base. They will send me so much hate for already dating someone new. My producing company told me not to date anyone; the paparazzi and media do not want us to date.

CHARLES
Then if no one wants us to date, then why are we dating?

SELENA
What? Maybe because I want to date. And I thought u did to? I guess not.

CHARLES
I do. But what if I told you I would date you but secretly and we could not tell everyone.

SELENA
Char, I'm not saying that we can't ever go on dates and hang out. I'm just saying if people ask me or if the media puts out that I have a boyfriend, I won't automatically say yes. We will have to run from paparazzi to be alone. But I have to do that anyway. You knew that when you found out I was in the lime light. You just have to understand and trust me that it will be fine. It will be like a normal relationship.

CHARLES
Okay I will trust you! By the way, I like how you called me Char! That's so adorable. So we can go on dates and stuff like that in secluded, romantic places?

SELENA
Yes! I think that is an awesome idea. Plus we can both just get away from the stressful world we live in and just be together.

CHARLES
Being together sounds like the best idea. I can see myself with you for a long time.

Charles leans in and kisses Selena.

SELENA
Wow! I can kiss you for a long time.
