The Birdwatcher
Day 1:
My name is Linda and I’ve decided to keep a journal and write about things. I’m retired and my husband still works, he has his own business so we can live comfortably off of my retirement money and his money. I love to go into my backyard garden and look at all the different birds. Along with the birds I like to spy on my neighbors as well. Today my neighbors George and Gloria were arguing as usual. They argue about dumb stuff like the weather or what was on the news. Also today I saw the most beautiful blue bird up in my tree. It was light blue on the bottom and a darker blue on top. I cant wait to see what happens tomorrow.
Day 2:
Today I have a new neighbor. An older woman who lives alone. She doesn’t seem to do much but sit around kind of like I do. However I like to be busy after the morning where I sit and watch. I wonder who the lady is, I wonder why she lives alone. Maybe I’ll go ask Carol, she is apart of the Home owners association. This morning the blue bird was back alone with a small bird that likes to chirp a lot. The smaller bird has yellow on the bottom and gray on the top, he is so adorable. My husband had the day off today so we sat together for a bit but then he got hot and went inside.
Day 3:
Today I was looking around with my binoculars and I landed on my new neighbor except she was looking straight at me. I looked away for a bit and when I looked back she was still looking at me and she didn’t turn away at all. I’ll admit it creeped me out, why was she looking straight at me. Today though I saw a beautiful red robin. It was in the bird bath enjoying itself. I really love sitting out here with my coffee.
Day 4:
Today I was looking around and I landed on my neighbors house. I saw the older woman changing. I looked away because I was surprised, I looked back a few minutes later and she was still naked. She was just standing in the middle of her living room naked. Why was she doing that? I looked back once more and she was staring straight at me, I ran into my house. It didn’t feel safe outside anymore.
Day 5:
I was sitting outside with my coffee like usual. My neighbors George and Gloria were arguing again, I think their both going crazy. I decided to ask Carol about the older woman this morning and gosh I can’t believe her. She told me that she couldn’t give me any information. She said I should just go talk to her, can you believe her? After what I saw how can I just go up to her and talk to her normally? I was so angry. Carol even called me nosy! I refuse to talk to her for a while. I mean what am I supposed to do? My husband is always buy and he’s never home.
Day 6:
Today I saw doves in my tree, they were making nests to lay their eggs. It’s always so interesting watching birds making their complicated nests. However I saw the weirdest thing today. The old lady was in her backyard digging. She was digging but she was also naked. She was digging a hole in her backyard, it was a human sized hole. I felt unsafe so I ran back inside. It was so creepy, why was she digging? What is she going to put in the hole? I’ll look again tomorrow but for now I think I’ll just stay inside and maybe do a little baking.
Day 7:
As quickly as she moved in she moved out. She was gone the next day, even the hole she dug looked like she never did it at all. I was disturbed by that woman. Everything went back to normal and my neighbors were once again fighting. That’s all they ever do. I was to scared to ask about that woman so I decided to forget about her. It was like she never existed.
5 years later
Well it certainly has been a while. It’s been five years since that woman moved in and then six days later moved out. I decided to go to Carol and ask again. All she said was that ladies name was Anna and she was a bit odd. Carol said she knew nothing else about her. Not even her last name. I decided to take this to the internet and looked up records of Anna that have lived by me. Then I found her, Anne LeBlanc. It was newspaper clipping that stated, Anna LeBlanc was murdered by her husband, he then stripped her and buried her in their back yard. She stayed there for a years before police were notified. He is still in prison till this day. I cant believe it, she died ten years before she even moved in.
