Christmas eve was like any other, stockings among the fire place and a tall decorated tree in the living room. The fire was blaring as quiet Christmas music played in the kitchen. Cookies were laid out for Santa and the girl was ready to go to bed and wait for her galore of presents in the morning. Shortly after she fell asleep, dreaming of gumdrops and sugar plums, she was abruptly awakened by a thud of what sounded like glass crashing to the ground downstairs. She remembered to lock the doors before she went to bed but her curiosity kept her awake, so she went down to check. She first reached the living room, turned on the light and saw the plate of cookies, crumbled. None were eaten, just smashed on the plate. Next to them was the glass of milk, knocked over and covering the beige living room carpet. She continued to the tree finding that so many of her precious ordainments were broken on the ground below the tree. Feeling scared but confused, she turned around toward the kitchen to see her Christmas themed china plates covering the kitchen tiles in little pieces. She picks up a big piece of glass examining the broken edge when she heard footsteps. She turned around to see a big tall man in a red fuzzy outfit and a red hat standing above her. Suddenly all she saw was black and all she felt was pain, when she was knocked out by the big man and fell back into the broken glass. Her quiet Christmas music, staying in the background as she dragged through the glass and toward the blazing fire place.
