Escape
Falling to the floor, I didn't know what hit me. I looked, there was just a blur. I felt a burning sensation in my skull then I drifted away. Not knowing what had happened, I awoke, tied to the bed, naked with the exception of my silk panties. I've never been this terrified with the racing of my heart increasing and beads of sweat forming on my forehead. I asked myself, Why me? What did I do to deserve this?
I started to wonder how my life could have changed so fast. How i was sure my life was getting on track finally, I thought this part was over. After getting abused and watching my boyfriend get taken away, I never thought I would have to go through this again. I didn't want to think of those moments, I just wanted to get out of there. This couldn't be the end!
I heard thumps from his boots ascending up the stairs which forced my thoughts back to reality. I layed there, looking around anxiously awaiting what approached me. He entered the frame of the door and then froze. He wore all black with a mask on that hid his identity. Standing there, staring, anticipating what he was going to do next. I was thrashing my body, trying to escape the rope that captured my wrists and ankles keeping them from moving. It felt useless, like there was no hope I was getting out. He began walking over to me, with his finger tips brushing up my leg. He smiled, seeing the goosebumps that formed from his cold hands.
"What do you want?" I asked. I wanted to hear his voice but he wouldn't speak. He turned his head and pointed, indicating that he wanted me. He started making his way up my body while tightening his grip when he reached my breasts. "Please stop," I begged. It got him to stop but only for a minute. The thought of me not wanting him made him more aggressive.
Then, I realized if I was going to stay alive, I would have to keep his temper under control. "I'm sorry," I told him. He took a few deep breaths and seemed to relax. His mask hid his expression so I wasn't sure but hoped it was working. I was willing to do absolutely anything to make it out alive. "Kiss me," I said. He paused with confusion. "Kiss me," I repeated. He was still puzzled, but he leaned over, pulled up his mask, and kissed me. The shading of light gave me a disadvantage of seeing any part of his face.
After getting his trust, I needed to plan how I was going to get untied. "Can I use the bathroom?" I asked. He sat there, thinking if it was just a trick. "Please," I whined. He sighed but then untied me. I thought to myself yes, this was it.
He held onto my wrists as he escorted me the to bathroom. How was I going to get away from him, I wondered? Then I spotted it, the key to my survival. It was a knife, slipped in his back pocket. I went to the bathroom, playing in my head the next moves I was about to make. As I stood up and made my way to the bedroom, I knew this was my chance. I used all my strength to push my knee up and into his groane. I then reached to grab the knife but he beat me, already gripping it in his hand. He pinned my body to the floor as I squirmed trying to ge away. There was no use, I wasn't able to get out. I reached up and pulled off his mask which revealed a familiar face.
This wasn't just someone that I had seen around. This was a someone I had known for some time. A someone who so many years ago had hurt me and I never thought I would see again. He was back, back to get something he wanted. And that something was me.
A rush of panic hit his face and he lost his composure. The sharp point of the knife punctured through my chest, slowly going through the tissue. As my breathing became gasps, I felt myself beginning to fade. Not now, I had to keep going. I wanted to escape, I mean I needed to. I forced my eyes back open and saw an empty room. I was laying on the blood-stained carpet, unable to move. He had left me, all alone to die. But I had to live, had to show him I was stronger. I dragged my body slowly, inch by inch.
I was losing blood, and the pain forced my body in and out of consciousness. Nothing could save me now, just myself but I was too weak. I dosed off, not knowing if I would ever awaken. A faint voice was then echoing in my mind. "Hey ma'am, you okay?" A man said. I thought I must be dreaming but the voice kept repeating. I tried opening my eyes but my eyelids were too heavy. Then, I tried to talk but inarticulate mumbling came out. I heard the man say, "You're going to be okay ma'am." I forced the words out of my parched lips, " How, how did you know?" I began to whisper.
"Your neighbors ma'am," he explained. Finally, this was all over. I can't believe this was it, I thought. I made it. I survived.
