The house stood still on that humid fall night. The wood, although cracked and splintered, held an intriguing beauty. The windows remained boarded after years of abuse from harsh weather. While it had been over a hundred years since the house had been visited a change was coming. The house could feel it.

The grass swayed in the gently breeze, whispering secrets of a long forgotten past. The moon illuminated over the house, giving an eerie feeling to those who passed. The door swung open, awaiting the brave souls who would soon enter.

Alice Walker woke from the dead of the night. Her dreams of the house had begun to get worse since summer had ended. But, like any other day, she ignored the nightmare and got ready for school. After all, the house was just a story her granny told her as a young child.

As she drove her way to Lakey High, she thought about the house. It had haunted her for far too long, waking her and never leaving her mind. Screw school she thought, and turned towards Ash Creek Road.
The drive took a total of fifteen minutes, but the anticipation of finding her nightmare made it seem much longer. She ignored the beeping of her phone as she jerked to a stop; the house in plain view. She gasped in amazement, but also in fear. It was suddenly a reality to Alice that this house, this place, and the horrors that happened inside, may have been true.
She silently closes her door, and stumbles up the old and creaky stairs. Contemplating going in, she thought of her family. Would she see them again? Would they know she skipped? Of course she would and they would know, but she needed answers. She slowly reached for the door, and as it opened she felt fear creep into her spine. She ignored it and stepped inside. As she stood in the hallway she glanced at the old wooden floors and furniture, not paying attention to what truly called her inside.
The monster stared at her through the closet, smiling as the door slammed close behind Alice and the House quickly disappeared into thin air.
