I Need You
I smiled as the man behind the counter handed me a big lump of blue cotton candy, turning slightly to glance at the ride closest to me as another scream erupted from the couples and children. I'm glad I convinced Chuck to come here. I knew it was the perfect way to cheer him up. I was giving my money to the kind man when I felt a hand on my shoulder, wasn’t Chuck supposed to stay in line for us? I thought as I turned around. My smile slowly faded when I saw Him. He had the usual stern mask on his face as he beckoned me to follow him. We walked behind the roller coaster as my pulse began to quicken. My hands shook into fists, as I took slow steps back, slipping slightly on the damp grass. This isn't where they're supposed to be. It's too early they said they'd give me more time.
“You haven’t finished the assignment Dawn” He said, his voice husky from many years of smoking.
“You said I could have more time” I replied in a shaky voice.
He grabbed me by the front of my silk white blouse, and brought my face to his, nose to nose.
“I decide when I want my assignment finished, and your time is up Dawn” His hot peppermint breath blew in my face, I flinched away and he dropped me on the ground. I looked up at his black hollow eyes.
“Please Alex I just need a little more time I promise I wil-” I pleaded but was cut short by a slap in the face. I cupped my cheek as angry tears began to form but I couldn’t fight tonight I was too weak. He dropped me, I sat on the damp grass looking out around me bracing for another blow. The lights were bright blinding my eyes, the screams were deafening. I looked up into his hard face once more, he was almost 6’3 he had huge black eyes, his cheekbones were high and defined and his nose slightly crooked from one of his many fights. He looked down at me and pulled his fist back. I shut my eyes as I felt his knuckles pound into me, as I was pulled under by darkness.
