April just reached the end of her road from her walk and she had walked long enough to clear her mind from school. She still was not in the mood to rush back home so she took in all the varieties of different colored leaves around her. When she got to her driveway she made sure to check the mailbox for mail. She always has loved checking for mail, because you never know what you might get.
She was saddened when she saw that it was empty, her parents must have picked it up she thought, but there was a small envelope in the back that she reached back and got. The letter was crisp and fresh, it looked as if it hadn't been handled by any of the post men. It was addressed to her and it didn't have an address on it so someone had to have put it in there because her name was the only writing on the envelope. She look around to see if the person that  put it in there was still around but there was no one around. She walked down the driveway some and sat down in the grass. April flipped the envelope over to open it the paper inside was simple college rule paper. It read:
“I  have to put up signs for the hayride on saturday, it goes through the woods behind the church. I was wondering if you would want to come with me, I  haven't done it before and they told me I can bring someone. I really don't know you too well, but you seem like a nice person. I see you walk up and down the street a lot so I thought you might want to walk in the woods with me. I heard someone say that something weird happened in the woods and that I should be careful but i am sure they are just lying. If you want to come just meet me friday after school at the church.              Sincerely, Jason”
……………
Jason was digging through the sale bin at the grocery store. He just found the last item he wanted, right as he went to put it in the cart he saw April out the corner of his eye, and she was walking toward him. Right as he when to push the cart he slips.
April gets to the end of the aisle and see he has slipped. Jason glances over at her and gives as much of a grin as he can manage, he really just wants to hide his face. Instead he stands there frozen, she gives him a concerned look and breaks the awkward silence by saying, “ need some help?” “Ummm” he mutters, ”sure if you don't mind.” Then she give him a hand and says  “I got your letter the other day and I would love to come friday.”  Jason says still standing in the puddle of water  “Oh no it's alright i have been wanting to get more involved in the church any way I think this would be fun.”
“really?”
“Yeah, why not I like walking and I haven't gotten to know you yet so i think this would be a cool opportunity for us to get to know each other better. We are in the same youth group after all.”
“Yeah I guess you got a point”
They finally say goodbye to each other. As April walks away she bends over and picks up the bottle off the floor and tosses it in the cart. Jason flushes, as April smiles and walks away.
……………
It was sunday now and Jason was sitting at the entrance of the trail that leads into the woods. He is waiting open April to show up, and he is nervous to see if she will actually show up or not. Soon a car pulls up and April steps out and walks over, “Already?” she says. He jumps up, “yeah of course!” then he notions to the trail and they start put up the signs and flags down the trail.
They are almost done now for they are almost out of signs and flags. There was a crash in the woods and a limb falls in front of them. April grabs Jason's arm, “what was th-” A giant object come streaking out of the darkness and smashes into Jason's face. Jason's body goes flying backward blood starting to form on his face. “What wa that?” April screams, she is starting to back up and when Jason opens his eyes April is looking toward the exit and he can tell she is going to try and make a run for it. “Help me up” Jason says “then we can get out of here, I don't know what the was but I don't want to find out.” She helps him up and the turn toward the way they took to get in, when the same object from before and smashes into Jason's back sending him into the dirt. April grabs his hand and starts dragging him. “We need to go!” she cries, Jason tumbles up and starts to run to keep up with April. When they are almost to the end the object is hanging in front of them. She screams, and then the object darts at her and Jason steps out in front of her and the object smashes into Jason's throat and Jason collapses and the object turns into a shadow like form of Jason and walks off into  the woods. April starts to cry and drags Jason's limp body toward the exit, but without any warning another object this one in a more definite shape of something resembling a orb, flies out of the dark and smashes into April's head. She dies instantly.
Still today no one knows what went on in the woods, for everyone is scared that whatever happened to April and Jason will happen to them.
