It was a late and gloomy night, and I was visiting a supposedly “haunted” house with my three friends, Evan, Tyler, and Jeffrey. My friends and I have visited the house in the past, but we didn’t find anything that seemed out of place or uncanny. The only odd thing that we noticed was that every door was locked, even though the house has been dissipated for a few decades.
When we advanced into the eerie house, we insinuated something that seemed out of place. One of the doors was wide open! When my friends and I visited the house in the past, that particular door was locked. My friend, Jeffery, was an extremely inquisitive person, so he wanted to go into the room. Evan told Jeffery that he shouldn’t go into the room. For some reason, I gained enough courage to step into the room that nobody else would dare to enter.
As soon as I stepped into the room, the room started to spin as fast as a top. I didn’t know what was happening, and my friends were terrified. I closed my eyes out of sheer and unquestionable fear for about five seconds, and when I opened them, I was in another world. It was a dark and macabre place, and I was scared out of my wits. There were many human skeletons and dead animals that sent thousands of shivers down my spine. I also saw a rotting deer carcass near an old tree. When I saw the rotting and grotesque carcass that belonged to a deer, I threw up on the ground. After a few minutes, I realized that I was standing on top of a hill, and I also perceived that there was a castle a couple hundred yards in the distance.
I started to walk towards the castle, not knowing what to expect. Like my friend Jeffrey, I am an extremely inquisitive person that loves to seek thrills. I thought that it would be a gargantuan thrill to stand right in front of the mysterious and provoking castle. When I was about thirty yards away from the castle, I saw a mysterious and tall specter that was looking right into my eyes that were filled with fright. The specter’s face was covered by a hood, and the specter was wearing a black robe. The only thing that I could see was a pair of red, terrifying eyes. Those red, beady eyes were staring right into my soul. I wanted to shriek as loud as I could, but I couldn’t do it for no apparent reason. The specter stared at me for a couple of seconds, and then it suddenly vanished into the thick and cloudy fog. I couldn’t see the specter anymore, so I proceeded on my journey to the castle.
When I was standing right in front of the castle, it started to rain.  There was a heap of lightning, so I decided to go into the castle for shelter. It was like the world wanted me to go into the castle. The inside of the castle was darker than a black crayon. I saw a blurry light in the distance. When I started to walk toward the light, I noticed that the light was coming from a lit lantern. I picked up the lantern and started to walk around the castle. Suddenly, I heard two voices coming from the upstairs.
“We have to find a way out of here, and we have to find Ron!”
“Ron is probably far away from here.” I heard the two voices say this to each other.
I have heard those two voices before. Those two voices seemed unquestionable to me. Those voices belonged to my friends, Tyler and Evan! I ran upstairs and tried to find them. After two minutes of searching, I found Tyler and Evan alone in a library. When we saw each other, we embraced each other. We were extremely grateful to see each other again. I asked them where Jeffrey was, and Tyler told me that Jeffrey ran out of the haunted house after he saw me disappear. When Tyler and Evan went into the room to look for me, they were transported to the inside of the castle. Tyler and Evan were my true and loyal friends.
When I told Tyler and Evan that I found a way out of the castle, Evan told me something that made me turn white with fear. Evan told me that he was being followed by a tall specter, and he told me that it seemed like the specter didn’t want him to leave the castle. I was on the brink of tears, and I wanted to run out of the castle as fast as I could. Then, out of the corner of my right eye, I saw the specter staring at all of us. Tyler let out a blood curdling shriek that made us run out of the library as fast as we could.
We split up and tried to find a decent hiding place. I hid under a bed in an upstairs bedroom, and I made sure to hide my lantern, even though I wouldn’t be able to see that well. I could hear the specter open the bedroom door to try and look for me. I could hear the specter’s footsteps getting closer and closer to me, and I became petrified with fear. I didn’t want to see those terrifying red eyes again. I was afraid that the specter could hear my breathing or my heartbeat. Luckily, though, I heard the specter leave the room.
I was still unsure if the specter was looking for Tyler and Evan. I tried to look for Tyler and Evan to get out of the castle, but to no avail. After about ten frightening moments of searching for my friends, I finally found both of them hiding in the same closet. They had also heard the specter walk past them, so they had to limit their breathing. We were extremely happy to know that each of us were safe from the specter. Then, Tyler told me something that made me jump out of my skin. Tyler told me that the specter was carrying a sharp object that was very bright. I didn’t want to know what the specter was holding, so I ran and tried to look for another way out of the castle.
When I was searching for a way out of the dark and dangerous castle, I remembered something that made me feel like an imbecile. I used the front door to get into the castle, so I could probably be able to use the front door to escape the castle safely. I told Tyler and Evan that the front door is probably still unlocked, and that we could probably escape the castle using the front door. After I told this to Tyler and Evan, all of us hurried to the front door. But when I tried to open the front door, it was locked!
The front door was the only escape route that I thought of. I remember that I didn’t see any other doors inside of the castle.
“Ron, behind you!!” I heard Evan shout with a gargantuan tremble in his.
After Evan shouted, I began to get the willies. I was 100% sure that the thing that was behind me was indeed the specter. I turned around slowly, and the specter was standing behind me. I let out a scream that would make a person go deaf. Surprisingly, however, the only thing that the specter did was stare at us with its bright red eyes. Suddenly, the specter reached into his robe, and when Tyler and Evan saw the specter do this, both of them tackled the specter with great force.
When Tyler and Evan were wrestling the specter, I decided to join in. I wanted to know what the specter wanted out of three young boys. Suddenly, Tyler had an idea. Tyler pulled down the specter’s dark hood to reveal its face. A split second after Tyler pulled the hood, I took a look at the specter’s face. The specter’s face was old and scared.
I was perplexed when I saw the specter’s face. The specter turned out to be an old man. I asked the old man what he wanted to do to us. The old man told us that the only thing that he wanted to do was help us escape the castle. The bright and pointy object was actually a key. The old man found the key under the living room carpet, and he didn’t know which door the key unlocked.
The old man started to explain everything to us after we let go of him. When the old man was our age, he visited the haunted house with his friend, Timothy. When they visited the castle, every door was locked, except for one. The unlocked door was the same door that transported me to the alternate world. The old man was an extremely curious young boy, so he ran into the room. You guessed it, the old man vanished from the room, and Timothy ran out of the haunted house immediately after he saw his friend disappear. The old man entered the castle, and he found the robe lying on a bed in the upstairs bedroom. A ghost appeared in front of the old man and told him that he would be immortal until he found a way out of the other world.
After the old man told us the story of what happened to him when he was a young lad, he apologized for terrifying us. The old man told us something else that made us scared out of our wits. He told us that he was 400 years old, and that he has been trapped in the castle for all of that time. After he told this to us, Tyler told the old man that he saw a door that had a keyhole. The particular door was behind one of the bookcases in the library. As soon as Tyler said this, all of us rushed to the library in our hopes to escape the castle.
Sure enough, the key unlocked the door, and the door lead to a staircase that lead them out of the castle. After we went down the staircase, we found ourselves behind the castle. As soon as we stepped outside, the old man started to cry. He hasn’t been outside for 400 years, and he was filled to the brim with joy. He told us that he had lived a long life and that he wanted to leave the alternate world and die peacefully.
Evan saw a bright light coming out of a bush, and he decided to pursue it. All of us followed him to the bush. The thing that was hidden inside of the bush was a locket, and when we touched the locket, we were whisked back to the haunted house. When the old man got into the haunted house, he faded away into the light. Tyler, Evan, and I ran out of the haunted house and hugged each other. We will never return back to the haunted house ever again. We looked for Jeffrey, and we found him hiding in his house. He was so relieved to know that we were alive. Maybe next time we will visit somewhere that won’t transport us to another world

I wanted to write a story that was thrilling and macabre that would scare anybody that would read it.
