I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

*Radio Static “ It appears that their is a blackout in the entire Bundy Area. All citizens are advised to stay inside for safety and shut all doors and windows. In addition to, all citizens should avoid opening doors to strangers in light of the recent serial killings. *
Emily and her husband Josh listened to the news clutching all of the blankets in their bed. “When are you going to buy some flashlights” Emily asked. With a  frown Josh responded “stop nagging me, I’ll do it tomorrow.” Emily gazed around the dark room in boredom, she usually watched Netflix during a time like this but the major storm outside caused a blackout in the whole neighborhood. A brisk breeze blew through the crack in a window and spread throughout the household bringing a chill to the back of the couple's necks “That’s it, we need to get closer or else we will freeze.” Josh stated
Josh scooted closer to Emily and put his arm around her, and whispered in her ear “Let’s go to bed.” Emily reached for her phone on her dresser and checked the time. It was 9:43 pm. Her eyes full of rage she said “This is what wrong with you Josh, all you care about is my body, do you even love me?” “Of course I do.” Josh said while reaching his hand in the back of Emily’s shirt. “Josh,if you do that again, I will kill you!” Emily pestered before she got up and left the bedroom. She walked through the halls, feeling the walls to guide the way. Now if she could continue without bumping into anything she should be okay.
*Squeak squeak*
Damn the loose floor boards and the sounds which echoed throughout the house. “Wow, this is actually getting a little scary.” Emily thought to herself. She reached the end of the hallway , and then carefully paced down the stairs and threw herself on the couch.
*BAM*
Out of nowhere an object hits  the window consequently flinging glass in dozens of directions, finally landing  on the floor. Emily jumped away  from the window with haste and dived behind the couch. Emily could only hear the quickened sound of her heart which erupted in increments that were only becoming swifter.

A car drove by the complex at breakneck speeds and the illumination from its headlights granted  Emily time to view the object that caused this trepidation. “Was it a rock?, a brick?” she thought. After a few seconds from staring at it, she treaded towards the object in silence to  figure out that the object was just a baseball. Acting quickly , she tiptoed to the window to try to see who may have thrown the ball. Looking to the right and then to the left all she saw was darkness, and all the trees swinging dangerously back and forth like they were in a parade. It was raining heavily at that moment and the rain was getting all over Emily’s hair.

*BOOM*
Emily’s ears popped, she didn’t know what was going on. A flash of light came falling down in her front yard followed by a scream of someone unknown. In spite of this, Emily didn’t dare to  look back  and dashed to her husband Josh. Crying and sobbing she raced through the hallway through the darkness and in their bedroom, where she saw Josh sleeping and the window open. Still in a state of shock she slammed the window, closed the drapery and jumped in bed. Emily  looked at the dark figure next to her in yearn of protection.
Without warning she kissed Josh passionately and said “Never leave me again!” teary eyed. “I won’t” he replied in a soft voice.  They spooned and cuddled to stay warm but when she went to feel Josh’s hand  she felt a rigid object. “ Josh, what is on your hand?”  “ It’s just a mitt, I was playing catch by myself earlier.” he said with a raspy voice.  Seeming content she fell asleep in her partner's arms.
*BANG*
Wind breached the rickety window causing a gust of cold morning air to cross over Emily’s neck. Emily awoke instantaneously and  became alert, the sun was rising and with this light came a sudden realization. She noticed that her partner was taller than usual, which was very strange. She got off the bed when a voice asked “Where are you going?” With quick wits Emily turned around and patted him on the head and said “Just to the bathroom my love.” with a heedful smile. “Ugh” she thought. “Josh, what is this hair gel you are using, it's unnecessarily sticky.” she said while feeling her palm in uncertainty. Emily walked slowly to the bathroom, feeling the walls to guide her way, and right before she opened the door, the lights came back on. She opened the door  and….
*Schriek*
Ineffable emotions coursed through her body as she looked inside the tub. Her husband was lying dead in the bathtub in a pool of blood.
